Musical on Alabama governor

Musical on Alabama governor

Musical on Alabama governor#0

A musical should be done about Alabama's governor, George Wallace. Evita had nothing on him.

He has everything it takes to make a compelling story: segregationist in the deep South; after his governor term was up, he got his wife elected as governor so he could continue to run the state; failed Presidential campaigns; parlyzed from a gunshot wound; redemption as a born again Christian; and descent into obscurity.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

he certainly did with the african americans of alabama who supported his campaign in 1982 helping him win the governorship again. he also appointed what was then a record number of african americans to government positions during that term. was his conversion and apology real or just another evolution of the man who in '58 swore he'd never be "outni**ered" again?

Well, then it just might be a great topic for a musical.

What Papa is talking about with the quote is the '58 Alabama election in which Wallace had the support of the NAACP, while is opponent John Patterson was supported by the Klan. (Patterson was from the town I grew up in, the scandalous Phenix City, Alabama)
Patterson won in a landslide and suddenly Wallace became a huge segregationist.

His motivations always seemed based in a thirst for power.
I think by the mid sixties he believed his rhetoric, but he never went as far as to pass out ax handels to voters so they could beat any Black person who tried to vote, as Lester Maddux the regretable governor of Georgia did.

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

You grew up in Phenix City????? I'm in Columbus! We sell a lot of "Sin City" stuff in my store. It seems like everybody around here has some relative that was either a criminal or an extra in the movie.

And no one grew into anything new, we just became the worst of what we were."
