Erika, you sound fabulous on the "Come Rain or Come Shine" CD. Just finished listening to it!
Part "smokey diva" and part "sexy kitten."
Anyone who sings this well should have their car fixed.
Nice job wearing a "producer's cap," as well! Love the arrangements and your musicians.

I'm just bumping this up because the darn car is a freakin' mess, and it has to go to the mechanic as soon as it gets out of the body shop. (Completely unrelated to the accident, the thing chose now to start smoking and sputtering. Niiiiiice.) So, I figure if anybody's still interested in the CD sale, here's your reminder!
For what it's worth, Michael Rupert has had wonderful things to say about the jazz CD on his MySpace page:
"I just have to say that we have Erika's CD and it is a beautiful CD featuring 10 jazz standards including: "I've Got You Under My Skin", "Come Rain Or Come Shine", "It Had To Be You", "Fever". "They Can't Take That Away From Me", "Night And Day", "Embraceable You", "You Do Something To Me", "Don't Get Around Much Anymore" and "Someone To Watch Over Me". You won't be disappointed in this amazing CD and you will have also done a good deed : )"
Thanks, Michael! (And Will!)

I put a note on the other thread about these great CD's. I just knew Buffy was going to be great (and it is!) but I had no idea the "Come Rain or Come Shine" CD was filled with so many incredible jazz greats. You have to hear this woman's voice on the title track and They Can't Take That Away From Me, Night and Day, Embraceable You, and so many other gems. Classic jazz is definitely her forte! My personal favorite - Fever - is getting replayed so many times they're threatening to take my CD player away from me.
Do yourselves a favor and take advantage of this terrific offer - right now!

Just a bump to remind folks that I'm offering this special deal through the end of the month. The stupid car started smoking right when we brought it in to the body shop, so as soon as it gets its cosmetic surgery, it has to go to the mechanic for some, er, internal medicine. (I don't know why I went with the medical metaphor...maybe 'cause I still have the flu?)
Anyway, thanks again to all of you who have taken advantage of my "two Cd's for the price of one" offer. I appreciate it, and I hope you're enjoying the tunes!

Hi everybody -
The sale is ALMOST OVER (it ends at the end of the month) but my car is still in the shop, and it needs a ton of work, so I'm posting the info again. :-P
As many of you know, my husband got in a freak accident with our car a few weeks ago...he was on the freeway and got hit by a large chunk of concrete that got kicked up by a big-rig. He's fine, thank goodness, but the car is pretty messed up. The passenger door won't even open. PLUS, it started smoking and leaking oil, and I'm currently between gigs,so we really can't afford to fix it.
Sooooooooooooo, I'm having a special on my jazz CD (Come Rain Or Come Shine) to try and make some extra cash! :-P
Here's the deal: I will include a FREE copy of my band Velvet Chain's CD, The Buffy EP (regularly $9.95) with every Come Rain Or Come Shine you order. No extra shipping cost, either!
There are a couple of ways to take advantage of this special offer: you can simply order the CD through my website and follow up with an e-mail with the words "Special Offer" in the subject line, or you can just send me a message here with your name and e-mail address, and I'll invoice you through PayPal.
Thanks so much! And please tell your friends!!!!!
xoxo
Erika

I totally forgot to write about how much I love both of the cds you get in this Car Emergency Sale Package of Erika’s.
Of the two cds, The Buffy EP by Erika’s band Velvet Chain is the one that sounds most likely to be at home in my music collection, and I loved it right away. In the first song, “Buffy,” Erika comes on like the Kate Bush of the Undead. The rest of the songs remind me of Erotica-era Madonna if Madonna had a pretty voice and, you know, could sing. The production’s gorgeous, the musicianship is perfect, and Erika just sounds terrific. Of course, the two songs featured on the Buffy show (“Strong” and “Treason”) are here, and they’re great. The last song, “Frenchie” is presented in Club Mix form and it made me want more club mixes from Velvet Chain. (Which could very well exist, I don’t mean to come on like some sort of Velvet Chain expert!). “Frenchie” is like something Sandra Bernhard would cook up with a band, a turntable, and an answering machine, and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible.
The standards collection by Erika solo, Come Rain or Come Shine, is a perfect musical object. Pristine production and gorgeous arrangements with that sultry-playful-kittenish-vixenish-smoky-full-throated-whatever-the-specific-song-calls-for gorgeous voice front and center lets each track, well, “shine.” Not a lot of “rain” in this collection, in other words. “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore” is a favorite and believe it or not, Erika’s version of “Fever” somehow manages to feel fresh and new, something I didn’t think possible at this point in recorded history.
I’ve been listening to both cds since they arrived, and I have to admit that I was worried that they’d come and I wouldn’t like them and then what would I say? I needn’t have worried. Now I know that there’s a reason this woman seems to be working all the time. Erika, you’re really talented, your cds are really good, and I hope you keep up the good work. Other readers, if you’ve been sitting on the fence wondering if you want to get in on the sale, I recommend you do. Quickly. Plus, you’ll help a sister out.
