I'm not his friend, I won't never BE his friend, and I would like it if he would stop using that bizarre Dirty Harry-esque hoarse whisper, as it were. I've already lived through Ronald Reagan once, and that was enough.
Or to quote Barack Obama: ENOUGH!
I completely concur. Every time he said that I just wanted to scream at the screen "I am not your mother(expletive) friend!"
But at least we can rest assured that every time McC-C-C-Cain s-s-s-s-stuttered Obama got another voter.

Yep unless he loans me his car and buys me a cheese steak he's not my F-ing friend!!!!! (As you can see I have pretty low standards but I'd also like fries and a Pepsi)
when we lived in San Francisco there was a delightful Chinese restaurant on 19th and Castro, owned by an Asian woman who whenever customers came in would say "How are you my friends" or come to each table and ask that. (It has now since closed and she moved back to Thailand...sadly)
McIdiot ruined that memory for me last night by continually using "my friends" when it is obvious that most of us are NOT his friends.
Hereminds me of a retarded Tasmanian Devil
McCain as Sweeney Todd!
He's more the Judge Turpin type with his "pretty little ward" wife... but now that he's singing "My Friends" so much, I think he could really pull it off.
There's gotta be a dinner theatre somewhere that would cast him!

I'm your friend too, Senator
If you only knew, Senator
Ooh, Senator
Lukewarm
in the polls.

McBarbie....Cindy McBarbie
In our K5 program we call the students "friends" so when McCain kept saying "My Friends" I felt like he was talking to me as if I were 5
And there's the beauty of a theatre message board; now we all have Sondheim stuck in our heads! ^_^
Elphaba, I prefer to call her, "plastic Cindy".
I find the phrase, "my friends", to be quite condescending, especially when spoken by McCain.

Kringas, you REALLY have to write a musical!
PS Write a great part for Orfeh!

Did you know Orfeh went to high school at the age of ten?!
PS - I was once writing the book and lyrics for a musical version of "Flowers in the Attic" until I found out I couldn't get the rights.

Ha! Phyllis, I misread that as "I was once writing the book and lyrics for a musical version of "Flowers in the Attic" until I found out I couldn't write."

Well, I think that point is debatable, depending on who you ask.
I'd like to see Orfeh in Hedwig!
Well, I've heard that you can.
You can certainly post like a mo-fo.

Please look for upcoming collection of essays, entitled "Phyllis's Follies," culled entirely from BWW posts.
I used to work with a woman who talked about her "friends" all the time. Everyone was her "friend." And she name-dropped big time, too. Finally, we knew someone "in common," and what I discovered is that if she met you once and engaged in conversation with you for more than 5 minutes, you were her "friend."
So, since then, whenever anyone talks about all the friends they have (especially when they seem like the kind of person who couldn't maintain a relationship with a pet, let alone a human), I am always VERRRRRY skeptical. It's usually a sign of someone who has NO friends.
I think this applies here, don't you?

"Gramp McSame and His Imaginary Friends"! It sounds like a circus act. I like it.

I hope Michelle Obama goes on TV to accuse john McCain of running "the friendliest campaign in history!"
