...and I'm damn proud to be a Piazza addict. *melt*
I'm sorry for this thread to be so random, but I do feel proud of myself for being a Piazza addict. You see, around the town, there are a lot of kids who don't even listen to this. They listen to...useless rap. *cringe* Anyway, I feel like an indiviual by listening to Piazza. I'm not following the crowd or anything like that, unlike many of the kids that are my age.
Plus, I think Kelli O'Hara is brilliant.
I apologize again for this random thread, but I really have an urge to share this with someone. Begin bashing me. *ducks flying objects*

I seriously read that as PIZZA. I thought you were a Pizza (as in round baked dough with cheese and marinara sauce) addict.
That would have been much more random. lol

If you kept saying you weren't just a kid, then why do you advertise your age?
I'm glad you enjoyed the show, I also really enjoy. Welcome to the club, g girl!

Posted: 8/11/05 at 3:23pmWell, I'm not a kid. If you were to meet me, you'd probably think I was thirty years old...or so they say. *shrug* And that WASN'T to show off how mature I am.

Posted: 8/11/05 at 4:00pmGavrochegirl - you're certainly off to a good start if you are appreciating Guettel's music over some of the things that you could have chosen...I give you a hearty thumbs up! Piazza is, by far, the most artistic of all the musicals on Broadway at the moment. It's my choice of favorite musical for the past few years.

I would just like to comment that gavorchegirl is actually a legend, so she has been here a while.
Anyway, I wanted to say... welcome! I am also an avid follower of Piazza and Matt Morrison. I am excited to see younger teens appreciate a good musical when they see one.
Greekmusical... I can't believe you dont' have the cast recording yet! It's delectable.

Posted: 8/11/05 at 4:33pmkoren you are right ! I wanted to get it the minute it was released, but I waited for a few others that I wanted, too. Plus the fact that I was having financial strains the last couple of months ! The moment my income picked up, I placed my order to amazon LOL

"I would just like to comment that gavorchegirl is actually a legend, so she has been here a while."
In all fairness, being a legend status on this forum does not necessarily mean someone has been here a while. It merely indicates that they have posted enough times to bring them to that status.
As far as gavrochegirl, she has been here a few months and has contributed, so she has been off to a good start for a while.

Hey! Welcome!
Sadly I haven't seen Piazza... I really want to though! All I listen to is showtunes and all my friends love rap! I can't stand rap music. Anyway, thats great that you feel proud and an individual for listening to Piazza.
Happy Posting!

I definitely agree. Piazza is simply astonishing. I really hope I get a chance to see it while it's still playing on Broadway.
Oh, and I'm 16.

I'm 15 and I too am addicted to Piazza (and I havn't even seen it [yet]). The cast is uberly nice and they are all so talented.
and i know what you guys are talking about. I am the only person I know that would rather listen to showtunes (including Guettle's work) than rap, pop, and hip hop. *shurgs*

I would just like to say... obviously, that I am also addicted to Piazza. I have seen the show a couple of times now, and I plan to see it a couple more times. I think the cast is terrific, and I agree. I am the only one in my entire high school that listens to showtunes, or even watches the Tony awards. Everyone else listens to "pop music" with a bunch of talentless people who synthesize their voices.
Anyway, greekmusicfan... I'm glad that you have the money now to get the recording. I'm sorry that you had money problems though, I know how that can be a strain on getting things you really want too.

Wow, very suprised to read that you only 12. Your posts are quite articulate.
It's nice to see that younger teens aren't falling into the pop culture bandwagon and actually forming thoughts and opinions on their own rather than rehashing what MTV tells you to do.
Kudos to you!

Posted: 8/13/05 at 12:01amokay, not all rap is "useless." Have you heard of Kanye West...?...Jay-z....? Tupac....ugh.
re: My name is gavrochegirl, I'm twelve years old...#20
Posted: 8/13/05 at 12:04amI'm completely addicted to Piazza. I smile now, just thinking and typing about it. *sigh*. It's so damn amazing!

I would hope that as a 12 year old she hasn't heard most Tupac and Jay-Z. Kanye is a bit better, but still it's arguable at best that it's appropriate for a 12 year old.
I agree that hip-hop music (or any type of music) isn't useless though.
I am a fan of all types of music and try not to dismiss anything at all without giving it a listen.

Patronus, I know where you're coming from. I have an EXTREMELY eclectic taste in music (not even able to be defined as a taste! It's so general!) and I cringe when fans of one genre of music deem the others as "useless" or it requires no talent to produce it. Rap is a common target: people saying it isn't music, but rather people talking in rhythmic rhyme. But it takes ENORMOUS talent to put together a rap song. I don't really believe in the whole this-genre-takes-more-talent-than-that-one because they all require so much to succeed in and they're just so different, you can't possibly compare them (yes, I include bubblegum-pop stars like Hilary and Jojo in this picture, too).
I've said this before. It's like comparing the "latest Broadway stars". They're all so talented, but they're so different, it doesn't even MATTER in the end.

Posted: 8/13/05 at 12:36amExactly Aigoo. I have such a broad taste for basically everything, that I just hate when people make generalize statements like "rap music sucks" "contemporary broadway sucks." I just hate that stuff. Like, I'm not a huge fan of country music, but there are still some country songs that I like.
