My schools next musical

Okay so I was talking to my Drama teacher about what our next show should be, and these were some shows we talked about:
-RENT (a ton of people at my school really want to do this show, including me, but the right aren't advailable right now for schools and I don't know when they will be."
-Chicago (would be great because we always have alot of girls, but the rights are restricted.)
-We Will Rock You (Okay this would ROCK! I heard that the rights are going to be advailable to schools, but that's all the info I have.)
Anyway I'm am looking for sugestions.
We usually have like a max. of 30 people (our school is small, and we always have more girls then guys. Shows we've done in the past include "A Chorus Line", "Newsies", and "42nd Street". my drama teacher likes to do shows that have more then just two main characters.

Once On This Island has a bunch of big parts.

It's meant to only have a cast of 12/13 -- but is often done with a large chorus of storytellers instead of the gods doubling parts.

I did it last summer (I was Asaka) in a cast of about 80-90 and it worked really really well. You would be FINE with a cast of 30.

80-90?!?!? Wow, we did OOTI this year with a cast of 45. I thought that was a lot of people! Footloose seems to be popular this year. (at least in vegas)

A cast of 80-90?!?!? that is absurd. that wasn't a typo? wow.

I was Asaka in ooti though. basically one of my favorite roles. "More amusing than mangos"

nope, that wasn't a typo. it was really great, actually. i think it made the storyteller much more effective than when i saw it with a cast of the intended size. imagine how incredible "why we tell the story" would be with 80-90 people!! honestly, it was quite awesome (in the TRUE sense of the word).

Anything Goes. That was my first thought. Also, if you can get the rights, Thoroughly Modern Millie would be fabulous.

Seussical would deff work. Many large roles, and because you said you have alot more girls than guys the role of the Cat could be played by a girl.

Ragtime has lots of parts- my school did it a few years ago and it was fantastic! However, it is not a show for color blind casting.

There's a lot I am not certain of...

what about Music Man. their really is two main parts (Harold and Marian) but other parts can definitely steal (the Mayor and his wife, Marcellus, tommy and zaneeta) i was Tommy last year. and it was amazing. its an awesome show. but we had about 60 pple but i think 30 would work fine. just about everyone would have a significant part (teens, pick-a-littles, quartet)

i want you and nothing but you. miles and piles of you...finally ill have something to think of each morning....

ya once on this island was a really fun musical to do and thoroughly modern millie was amazing too! those would be good shows. what about jekyll and hyde? you got to love that show!
