Everyone talks about their high school musicals and today we had a meeting for ours.
We could vote to do either The Music Man or Oliver! All the guys chose Oliver! and most of the girls chose The Music Man, due to the roles. Well, Oliver! won. I am an aspiring lighting designer (some of you know
), but the director has this girl do (EVERY SHOW!) it who uses 0 color and does not even want to be a lighting designer. That is crap. OK, I'm not gonna get into that. With this situation I have decided to audition for the show. What would be some good parts for me? I have never been a lead and would like to be a featured actor first (the director has favorites anyways). What is a good role for a baritone/more bass in Oliver!? The Undertaker? Suggestions for my audition? What would be a good song for me?...anything. Thanks.

Posted: 1/6/04 at 7:30pmI forget most of the voice parts. I've only seen two bad middle school productions of it. So I really couldn't tell you. Sigh. Good luck anyways.

If you don't get The Undertaker maybe you could play his burned up brother, Kane.

Posted: 1/6/04 at 9:06pmIt's supporting. If you have a local library try seeing if they have a recording of it, I've seen it and it would give you a better idea.

Posted: 1/7/04 at 1:22pmI love Where is Love? from Oliver, its just one of those songs that rocks my socks off. For an audition piece since oliver is more serious hmmmm something that will set you apart, don't do one of those songs EVERYONE does for auditions, I can't think of any right now but I'll try back in a few

By the way, Joizey, I thought of you today at school (I DON'T EVEN KNOW YOU! lol). I have looked at your fan photos and saw someone in my school who looks like you. Just thought I would share.

Lucky to be Me - On the Town
If I Loved You - Carousel
Some Enchanted Evening - South Pacific
The Impossible Dream - Man of La Mancha
Joey Joey Joey - The Most Happy Fella
You might want to chek out the following. Most librbaries have it and you can just photocopy the songs:

Posted: 1/17/04 at 6:06pmIf she lets me sing with a CD, what about Taye's part in "Tell Me Something" from The Wild Party (Lippa)? His range matches mine perfectly. So, would that be a good song?

I auditioned this evening. I am very non-self confident...so I feel I could have done better (very nervous), but I did not do terrible. It was kind of funny: one time I accidentally said Fagin (faggin)...and I was reading for the @sshole who has been harassing me. He kind of giggled. I am meant to be a lighting designer, but this is just a fun change.
