Not to totally threadjack entirely here, but I'm on a "crappy" roll ... so I'm sticking with the theme!
Taz, so sorry to hear Sextette is out of print.
Check out this wonderful, romantic scene with an 83-year-old Mae West and a 20-something Timothy Dalton. I kid you not! Oh, did I mention it was a musical?

Oh! I meant to post this earlier, I saw on IMDB that DePalma is redoing Phantom Of The Paradise for a 2010 release.

Oh God, no, taz. Please let it mean that De Palma is just doing a digital scrub job on the film for a DVD release, not that---
God in heaven---
He's not actually REMAKING it, is he?

That rumor has been around for ages, taz, but it appears it may be true finally!
I can't BELIEVE he couldn't get the UNTOUCHABLES prequel, CAPONE RISING, off the ground. He's been working on that since REDACTED!
I'd prefer a musical version of SISTERS if DePalma wants do a remake of one of his early films with more music.
And I still say DePalma could do a killer MISS SAIGON movie.

I'd say that one of the best things that can be said of the current situation in American cinema is Brian De Palma's near-total lack of involvement, but that's just me.

I want Chatterbox to come out on DVD
It makes Myra look like GWTW.

Posted: 9/22/09 at 5:48pmMyra Breckenridge is horrible, and not good bad, in any way. It was horrible in 1970, and it remains so. Brian De Palma has made more films that I love, than any other director, other than Robert Wise. Updated On: 9/22/09 at 05:48 PM

I own Myra Breckenridge on DVD and it is one of *the* worst movies ever made. I would have to agree with one reviewer who in 1970 wrote: "Myra Breckenridge is as funny as a child molester".
The only thing I found funny was Raquel Welch's commentary.

Posted: 9/22/09 at 7:52pmI love Raquel Welch's commentary! She has such a great sense of humor about everything.

About 10 or 12 years ago when Farrah Fawcett was on Howard Stern being interviewed she said that Raquel was pretty mean and petty to her on the set of the film. She said that Raquel told her that her front teeth and her eye teeth weren't exactly the same shade of white and "on the big screen, that's a big difference."
I've heard that the commentary for The Last of Sheila has a lot of bitching about Raquel.

"Myra Breckenridge" is one of my favorite dvds- it's a get home shattered on Friday night , pour yourself a glass of vino, put it on with Raquel's highly embarrassed commentry, and settle in for the night. By the time you get to Mae West's rap number, you'll be having a fantastic time.
I also give full marks to "The Apple" and "Sextette".
