Jan van Lohuizen--whose voice is heard pretty loudly within Republican strategy circles--issued a memo last week telling the (evil) faithful that they were on the wrong side of both history and public opinion. One of the suggested talking points was the notion that the 'authentic' conservative position should be 'pro marriage'...

"Conservative fundamentals: “As people who promote personal responsibility, family values, commitment and stability, and emphasize freedom and limited government we have to recognize that freedom means freedom for everyone. This includes the freedom to decide how you live and to enter into relationships of your choosing, the freedom to live without excessive interference of the regulatory force of government."

For me, though, the standout news-bite in a week packed with developments on many fronts was pathologically self-loathing Chris Barron of GOProud, responding to Obama with the Orwellian:
