Seriously, though- this is the time that I always dread, the time right after some big event (usually a shooting, not always) has been in the news, where all kinds of (copycat?) crap happens, for example the guy that they were looking for in ~~SanFran~~ the past few days: history of drug use, had a gun and explosives (or so he claimed), and was calling people threatening he was going to "make Virginia Tech look mild."

Anakela - that guy was no where near San Francisco - it was 200 miles from here in Yuba City.

Ah, I stand corrected, thanks. I was reading about him on the sfgate.com site, so I just grouped him in as SanFran. And nope- I've never been to SF, never lived there, I know exactly two people who live out there, so I have no clue why I read sfgate.com, but I do.

The latest report is that the gunman shot himself and a male hostage dead. Another female hostage was found alive.

A bomb squad blew up a suspicious device in our metro area, today, too. A woman looked out the window where she works and saw a guy taping something the size of a football to the tailpipe of her car. The bomb squad managed to detach it and isolate it in the street and blow it up there. Normally they contain it and take it to a large open park area, but I guess they didn't want to move this one so far.
