Mister Matt - in my experience, it really all boils down to what they're told. they're basically given the impression that they CAN'T understand the actual book, so it's interpreted for them. All they have to do is accept and believe.

That's when I like to cordially tell them that it offends God not to use the brains they were given. If they had read the Bible themselves, they would have known that.

Not that it would make any difference.

M. Matt - you seem to have really disliked the term 'cordial' - I just picked it out of the air, for lack of a better term. You might find it distasteful to be concerned about such inanities in our daily life with so much of importance at stake, but I prefer to have the niceties - it makes dealing with the outside world at least . . . quieter.

I think we can gather enough signatures to prohibit interracial marriage and votes for women as well. Let's take the US back to the middle ages!

But if I confront them about this issue, they have no bones about simply saying it's because the bible says no. Period.

The Bible says nothing about gay marriage, but it does say no divorce. If they're using the Bible for their legal standards, they should pay attention to all of it.

No SueleenGay. This is a ballot initiative and just needs a majority voite.

The 2/3 vote is for CA budget congressional votes.

California only has a liberal majority in L.A., San Francisco and about half of San Diego. And I mean only in those cities. You go five feet outside of them and you're in the "red zone" big-time.

You know what ticks me off how they take the bible and take everything in it Literally....it is a piece of literature. It is based on second hand accounts(Peter, Paul, Mark, and I forget) and was put together by a man in the 15th or 16th century(I forget which century)...many of them think that Jesus or God wrote it...there are more then 4 gospels...they just chose the less flowery ones...It is a bunch of stories told by different people....also they never heard of how our country was founded upon the belief of seperation of church and state....It angers me when people use the bible as an excuse to stop gay marriage...

Oh I do hope those two lovely Mormon women come to my house again to tell me to vote against gay marriage......this time I will be ready for them.....
I just can't decide between throwing paint at them, or answering the door in (to them) a compromising position.....
