What exactly is the point of the Post's story? To suggest that its as unAmerican to visit the Soviet Union in 1983. WTf? People commonly traveled to the USSR back then. There was no travel embargo. Going to Moscow was not a telltale sign of political intransigence, of of anything at all. Except a desire to travel there.

It's not a bad idea to stigmatize smoking, any more than it's a bad idea to stigmatize 64-oz Big Gulps. But Bloomberg has really evolved, IMHO, from a public servant to a guy with a God complex.

Voting for Carreon as Lhota has no chance plus gave up on him after he decided to kiss Al Sharpton's ring.

De Blasio does not like churches, does not believe in God , does not like to be woken up early (great in a crisis) , has says he needs to push Cynthia Nixon for an Oscar (really important). He hires an Ohio firm for his victory party and one member of the firm tweeted he is not thrilled with NY

He will be a one termer but oh the damage he can do in that 1 term. It will be interesting how he handles the unions since he stroked them during the campaign. If the unions got even a fraction of what they wanted taxes would increase for one and all and there would be service cuts. His whole campaign is based on 3 things:

1. Raise taxes on those making over $ 500,000. It will never get OK'd by Cuomo and he knows it.
2. Stop & Frisk - People in the high crime areas will be impacted the most. Smart cops now will re reactive and will only do something when their life is threatened or after the crime is committed.
3. He will stop hospital closings - The hospitals are bleeding money. It will only get worse when Obamacare goes into effect. How does he intend to keep money losers open. He will not be bailed out by the feds or Albany so he will have to hit the rich again before they start bailing. He will than start on the general public

Worst of all, we have to be assaulted by his annoying kids for the next 4 years

I guess breathing in exhaust fumes from cars & buses & trucks is ok. I especially like the ones that belch thick black smoke

I occasionally smoke a cigar. I had one unlit in my hand when an anti smoking zealot started to berate me from about 10 feet away about the dangers of second hand smoke. When I told her it was not lit she said " I can still smell it" . That made my day

The city government is hypocritical. They want you to stop smoking but if it were totally banned they would have a huge hole in their budgets. In addition, many bodegas and small businesses would be really hurt badly.
