Well, on a message board where heteros start threads about King Stevos being hot--I don't suppose gays are doing anything different. However, I agree that if gay men put as much effort into politics as they did porn and Pottery Barn, we might get places faster.

I am so sickened about this issue--the fact that other people have the right to decide my life---and deem whether I deserve some or all of their civil liberties--and that if I do, I am somehow suddenly getting special rights. Oh etc etc etc--it exhausts me!! lol

Ok so what happened to separation of church and state? I think government needs to completely get rid of the term marriage and come up with some other term. Because wasn't marriage originally a word created by a religion? That way we could get over this crap, I'm straight but I think gay couples deserve the same tax benefits and rights as everyone else. After all we do live in a country where, church and state are supposed to be separate. Whether someone who is gay wants to use the word marriage to describe the relationship with their significant other is for them to choose. I don't believe its the governments place to decide what "term" people should use for their relationships. Its a decision for the individual. There should just be one of those government terms that shows no preference or connection to a religion, like "significant other" or something. I don't know what word would be used but I think the government shouldn't use the word marriage at all, but thats my two cents and I'm sure I've said something that'll make someone angry and maybe I didn't make it clear, I just would like to make it so government is fair to everyone and not overstep its bounds, but I'm idealistic so my thoughts probably are flawed somehow.

On the note about sizes. As a straight guy I know I talk about women's "attributes" should we say all the time with my friends. It's a guy thing whether straight or gay. Haha I know some people who would hate me saying that straight and gay guys have something like that in common. Oh there are ignorant people in this world.

I understand, in theory, what Bulldog is saying but, it's the wrong way to look at things and that kind of thinking is the root of much of the predjudice toward gay men.

It may not be in the best taste to participate in a thread that discusses mens endowment (BTW, I myself participated) but, it is no different than heterosexual men talking about womens well endowed breasts. Open a magazine and look at the ads and ask yourself why an ad for power tools has a wet, half nude woman holding and electric sander. Sex is part of human nature. We all think about it. Most of us talk about. Most of us notice physical beauty.

When gay men do it, it is seen as wrong. It's considered a detrement to us because it only serves to remind the heterosexual community that we are sexual beings and that bothers heterosexuals. However, when you think about it, it is absolutely no different than what everyone else in the world is doing.
The whole point behind this issue and every other issue facing gay men and lesbians is we don't do anything different, we don't live differently. However, it is seen as being very different and disgusting to some.

So, although I realize the point you were trying to make and the reasoning behind it, I would ask you reread your words and look at them from a different point of view. I think you'll understand the anger that was prompted by your words.

Okay, here's how I break that down. If the ball park mascot actually has relevance to the park or team, such as the Green Monster at Fenway, it stays. If it's just some nebulous creature, it's gone. If it makes fun of Native Americans, well, I wouldn't want the karma of the person in that suit (did he or she even SEE Poltergeist?).

Yes, there is a time and place for everything and, you are right, if the straight guys turned every thread into a breast discussion, I would certainly complain. I'm not saying the thread in question was necessarily appropriate to everyone, hetersosexual men may not want to participate, children maybe shouldn't be reading it, some women may not find it amusing. However the feeling and sentiment behind the thread, that being one man's sexual interest in another man, is not inappropraite. The way you worded your post may be interpreted as you feeling that way.

I guess one of the points I was trying to make is that you can say that the behaviour is inappropraite for a particular place and time but, that doesn't make the beahviour itself inappropriate. Having sex whether it be hetero or homo sexual is not wrong...having sex in the middle of the street would be. Condem the inappropriate place but not the behaviour itself. At least not when the behaviour is accepted in other parts of society.
