Looking for leads on apartments....anyone have any insight, tips or suggestions? I'm trying to relocate so any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated
I've struck gold several times on craigslist. I think it's the best way to go.
Are you looking for a roommate situation or a place of your own? How much are you willing to spend? If you want to use a broker, do you make 40x the rent or do you have a guaranteur that makes 80x the rent or is able to pay for a year up front?

My roommates and I are moving out of an awesome 3 bedroom in Washington Heights. I'm so sad to let this baby go, but I don't want to be responsible for a 3 bedroom lease. It's a massive apartment with an elevator and a laundry room. The only problem is there isn't much of a cross breeze. $2200 a month plus utilities.
There are magnificent deals and magnificent apartments to be found in NYC. I've lived in Manhattan for 8 years now, have moved frequently, and have ALWAYS fared better on craigslist than anywhere else.
Unless you're looking for something specific and you've got some money to spend, there's no reason on EARTH why anyone should pay a broker to get what you can find yourself.
I repeat, CRAIGSLIST. Whether you're looking for a roommate or a new place of your own (no fee, by owner, etc.) craigslist is a treasure trove.
There are two kinds of people who use craigslist--those who have wonderful luck with it and those who don't.
Do you just have good craig-dar, munkustrap?
