I know this sounds corny, but "Moon River", it was the first song I heard, the first night I moved here..it was at an outside cafe and I had just finished loading all the crap into my apartment.
From where I sat I could see my apartment less than a block away and I had dinner with friends, we made a toast to the city and the song came on......ah such moments.

I'd Give It All For You (SFANW) is especially significant to me, and also one I could listen to 1000 times.
But I also have to agree with BroadwayMonkey and Bring on the Men, if I had to choose a theme song, that would most likely be it!
I like to have a man for breakfast each day.......

"ME AND A GUN" by Tori Amos
Because it impacted me at age 16 more than anyone can ever imagine.

Unusual Way, for some reason. Laura Benanti sings just beautifully.
Also, "So Long, Dearie" for some reason, always gets me. And "Gimme Gimme".

Well I think this thread has pretty much ended up posing three questions:
1. What song describes you?
2. What song has moved you/meant something to you?
3. What song can you never get tired of hearing?
My answers are:
1. When it comes to a song that describes myself I always first thing of "Safe in the City" from Taboo. However, I think a more accurate song would actually be Children of Eden's "Lost in the Wilderness." While I don't think that I will ever be able to explain where that feeling comes from, I do know that every time I hear it I feel something like identification. Primarily with the lines "You follow all the rules, you swallow all the stories, and every night you wish on a star. Dreaming your day will come, trusting in allegories and every morning boy look where you are." I can't explain it, it probably makes no sense but I always feel something with that song.
2. I remember not long after my boyfriend and I broke up (which is now a significantly long time ago) I was listening to the song "Good Thing Going" and it really hit me. Ever since then whenever I hear it that time is what I think about.
3. Simon and Garfunkel's "America," or Les Mis' "Drink With Me"

Love's In Need of Love Today.
Simply the most beautiful song ever written.

"Don't You Wish We Could Be In Love?" from Zanna Don't.
These lyrics really stuck in my head:
"And so I'll learn,
how to forget,
problem solved-
no one's upset."
Learning to forget is the hardest thing anyone can do, and it really applies to my life lately.

"Everytime" is such a beautiful song.
And I named regular music....I think. It wasn't showtunes.
#47re: Name One Song that...
Posted: 8/19/04 at 1:03amI listen to regular music, I just think that one of the reasons I'm drawn to showtunes at all is because they tend to have a depth to them which I always am hit by more than regular music. That isn't to say that I don't think regular music can hit a person, I just generally feel more for a showtune.
