calling it "corine's iguana" sounds...well...wrong. We call all the guinea pigs we've ever had "guido"s...I dont' know why...my mom decided years ago...anywho....we had one named "tuxedo guido" it was a black and white one we got three years ago and we weren't sure the sex yet cuz it was too young...ended up being a girl...ah well...it never responded to it's name anyway.

You don't know that "guido" is a slur against Italians who are also slurred by the word "guinea," ergo the clever names for your pets, secret-soul?

No, I knew about both slurs (one of my best friends is the classic stereotype, and we are italian) it was just silly at the time and really had nothing to do with the pets who deserved real names :)

Many moons ago Corine was posting messages that were purportedly from a Caribbean island, where she was vacationing with not one, but two boyfrinds. They had given her the trip for Christmas, even though the fair damsel is Jewish. In one message she said she was petting an iguana on the beach and in another she claimed she was feeding an iguana. Three hours after her last message, an esteemed member of this board saw her coming out of a Duane Reade in mid-town Manhattan. She claimed she had "just come back". She didn't have a trace of a tan.
Thus was born the legend of Corine's iguana.

Thus proving nothing. Except that we believe only the story we choose based on hearsay of the person we like (or disbelieve anything that is said by a person we wish to condemn regardless of facts) . Some people choose to shrug it off. Some use it as ammunition for any opportunity for cruelty. Some actually decide that even if it were true, it's really not a big deal. I'm sure there are countless other stories to be told where anyone could choose sides where a shred a truth was never actually revealed.
If Corine was mean or hateful, I could probably understand why all the bullying, but I've never seen her post anything like that, nor was she anything but sweet when Jarico and I spent time with her.
