While I acknowledge her prolific theater and movie career, my first memories of her were as Bonnie Franklin's mother on the sitcom One Day At A Time.

I saw the scene as the Triplets from The Band Wagon when I was a kid and it gave me nightmares. My Mom still talks about how terrified I was. That was my first memory of Nanette. Strange, but I always felt there was a striking resemblance between her and Kathleen Robertson.

Nanette, Dinah Shore and the chorus boys perform exercises and sing Meredith Willson's "Chicken Fat"--the theme song for President Kennedy's 1961 Council on Physical Fitness:

Ethan Mordden said it best when he wrote: "Those who have never seen her in a musical have nothing to tell their grandchildren."

If you go to www.bluegobo.com, you can find clips of her singing numbers from "Love Life" and "High Button Shoes"!

This has always been my favorite of hers!

She's the "belter's belter" in this one. She really knocks it out of the park at the end. re: Nanette Fabray Appreciation Thread

And I love the "summer stock" look, and the '50s Michael Kidd choreography.

Ya can't beat it!

I LOVE her Louisiana Hayride! Sometimes I hear her singing it in my dreams.

Elphaba--that's Cyd Charisse with Fred, not Nanette.

And bluegobo has her singing "Papa, Won't You Dance with Me" with Ed Sullivan--and getting him to polka!

She annoyed the crap outta me on One Day at a Time.

I was trying to find a clip from this really lousy tv special that she was terrific in ("Through the Looking Glass" that had a score by flop-meiser Moose Charlap) and found this fascinating interview with her.
