Hello! I have a super specific and difficult question/request. In a month or so, I’ll be auditioning for a role in my school’s production of Annie (we’re a performing arts high school, so this is a bit bigger for me). I’ve been told I’m a pretty good actress, I usually play the “annoying/flamboyant/eccentric male” in shows, and I sing baritone. In Annie, I’d like to play the role of Rooster, Ms. Hannigan’s brother. I’m looking for a “loud” audition song that’s supposed to sound ugly (like the song “Easy Street”, which is from the musical). I’ve played roles we’re I’ve had to ugly-sing before (i.e.: Mr. Centipede in James and the Giant Peach), but I can’t find a good audition song. The only thing I can think of is to sing Post-Modern Jukebox version of Mr. Brightside in this transatlantic accent, but I don’t think that’s appropriate. Any help or suggestions? I know this is a weird request, but I’ll take anything at this point. :)
