My daughter is looking for a song where you sing, then go to a dance break- jazz style and then sing again for a talent show. It can't be more than 2 minutes. Prefer a song that's very lively and crowd pleasing. Entertaining any suggestion! Thanks!
I don't know the timing on these, but you might be able to take a cut.
If My Friends Could See Me Now- Sweet Charity I'm a Brass Band- Sweet Charity (you'd obviously leave out the chorus at the end) I Can't Do It Alone- Chicago Forget About the Boy- Thoroughly Modern Millie (I think this one's pretty long...) Baby June & her Newsboys- Gypsy (You'd skip the boys and start with "Let me entertain you..." This timing should be about right.)
Thanks you two! Please- keep the suggestions coming! (she's already done "I Can't Do It Alone" and "Let Me Dance for You"- both are EXCELLENT suggestions!))
I did "I Can't Do it Alone" for a talent competition once and the audience loved it because you can really play it up. You could also look in to "You Never Had it So Good" and "That's the Way it Happens" from State Fair. Best of luck to your daughter!
Thank you guys so much! blondebaby- she already does "I Can't Do it Alone"- it's definitely a crowd pleaser but very hard to get down to 2 minutes. I will check out all of your suggestions- which are very much appreciated!
Oh, "Show Off" is good! I thought about "If You've Got it, Flaunt It" and "Take Back Your Mink" but I worried about the appropriateness. How old is your daughter? How much can she "get away with," so to speak?
Thanks again to everyone. I found a great song called "Showstopper". My daughter didn't really like it but I found the track on musicalcreations.com- which by the way has a big selection of tracks.
No- she doesn't do songs that she doesn't like to sing. It's always her decision to make- I just bring songs to her attention and she makes the choice. She has to be comfortable on stage. I posted it because it's a great song for this category and someone else might like to use it. Thanks for asking.
