I'm at my wit's end, and I could use some help. We have a wireless home network, and I should be able to print from any laptop on the network, but I can't. I've done what's needed to share the printer, which is connected to our desktop PC. When I look at the printer from within Control Panel, I see the icon indicating that it is available to be used on the network. However, none of our laptops can access it. Vista is running on the PC and laptops, and all the hardware is HP. I've tried HP's helpdesk, as well as Norton's (I thought it might be the firewall).

Note: I think the problem is connecting to the desktop PC, rather than just the printer. I can't see folders on the PC that I've made available for sharing, though the laptops can see each others' folders. I've tried pinging the IP address of the desktop PC from the laptops, and I've been unsuccessful.

Any help is appreciated. I have this nagging feeling that it's simply a setting or checkbox I need to fix on the desktop.

I am just guessing - is the encryption working OK. I had to move from WPA to WEP and it worked for my ipod Touch.
