Tad was not an original cast member. He first appeared in 1982.
Actually, that's only partially true. Tad, as portrayed by Michael E. Knight first appeared in 1982. The character of Tad was first introduced in 1973 or 1974 as a nine or ten year old boy, found in a park, abandoned by his biological nutjob of a father, Ray Gardner.

I'm so impressed, girly!
haha. Don't be. Some of the things I remember correspond with things going on in my life at the time, and the memory is vivid. I fell head over heels for MEK, when he first appeared and have pics of him and Marcy Walker at an appearance they made at Woodbridge Center from back then. The Tad, Liza, Greg, Jenny, Jessie and Angie years are among my fav. If I remember correctly when young boy Tad appeared, his arm had been broken by Ray Gardner.

I've been watching AMC since the first day it went on, but my memory fails me. You're right, though, certain things are going to stand out in our memories more than others.
I was wild about the couple Tara and Phil, but I don't know why. I think I just loved Karen Lynn Gorney.
When Sara MIchelle Gellar appeared as Kendall, I knew she was too good an actor to last long on the soap.
I also thought Leo was too cute to stay on a soap, and he didn't either!
Oh yes! It was one of my grandmother's stories, so if she was around sitting for me, it was on. I was in grade school when it started, so I watched as often as I could on days off, when I was home "sick", etc. When it first started, it was in black and white. Remember that? And I know I didn't like Erica back then, because she always tried to break up Phil and Tara. And she was so mean to Mona!!

YES!!! Black and white and mean to Mona. Definitely. I remember to the end, Mona was a devoted mother to Erika no matter how she was treated...sad. Now, on occasion, Erika goes to her grave for advice.
RE: Erica.....I know they would never have her die, but I really dislike her character.
Tara is Joe Martin and his first wife's daughter. Phil Brent grew up thinking Ruth Martin (Joe's 2nd wife) was his mom, but he was really her sister's son. Not sure why Ruth wound up raising him. Tara and Phil were high school sweethearts. He got drafted to go to Vietnam and they were going to elope, but a blizzard stopped them. They still said their vows to each other in an empty, candlelit church. He shipped off, she wound up pregnant from their 'wedding night', and he was reported MIA. She married Chuck Tyler (Phoeboe's grandson), Phil turned out to be alive and drama ensued.

I'm amazed, girly.
I hope you don't mind if I add that Phil and Tara were one of those "favorite couples" like Luke and Laura, etc.
Nah. I realized yesterday when watching the show, that I seem to recall more from way back when than more recently. I had completely forgotten about Zach knowing about Annie killing her brother and all that.
I think they should've had Erica's life hang in the balance for a few more days. I guess they didn't want to have a mother and daughter both fighting for their lives at the same time storyline.

LOL! Bianca would have had a breakdown!
Is it just me, or does Reese have the nicest clothes? I love just about everything she wears.
How quick before Annie escapes? Will she meet Amanda's mom in the looney bin? Egan did a good job, schmeared lipstick aside.
I was also surprised that Erika came to life (makeup and all) right away. I guess she had no vacation plans.
Yeah, Annie's acting was pretty darn good as a loony. I was impressed. Excellent.
Yeah...I dont think they operate on your liver if you have that much mascara on.
I don't even get the point of having Erika be the one who was stabbed. Why her? And why have her recover instantly? Another stupid non-plot line.
I think it's the Adam giving her blood...now they're blood brother and sister. Nice how he loomed over her and said, "You owe me!" two seconds after she woke up.
I know-they've made him into more of a cartoon than ever. If that's possible.
Only as the decoy for the stalker. He'd pop up when someone felt they were being watched, say hi and something sweet and leave.
He gave someone a painting of the moon...Ryan?
LOL, doodle!
OK, how and why did Annie kill her brother?
I think she ran him over and then hit him on the head with a tire iron or something.
He had info on her to blackmail her. I forgot what he was threatening her with.
GIRLY!!!!
Thanks Jane! So Annie's always had a little of the crazy in her.
