Posted: 4/28/08 at 6:39pmi'm just hypothesizing based on the people with whom i have come into contact in politics and the consensus i've gotten from many Obama supporters (and I will concede that most people who have expressed this are either upper middle class or upper class) is that if Obama is not the nominee, their votes will be going towards Bob Barr... I don't think it will be an earth-shattering amount of people who will defect to Barr, but it could prove to be a Nader in '00 situation...

see, my "hyperbole" was not so much so.
rev. kill whitey has not backed down from his accusation that AIDS was created by the u.s. gov't to kill minorities.
his bodyguards during that press conference? the fruit of islam from louis farrakhan's nation of islam. they believe that the white race was created 6,600 years ago on an island by a mad african scientist named dr. yacub and that all whites are by their very nature devils. read about it in the autobiography of malcom x by alex haley (of roots fame) - the blue eyed devils reference comes from that, any biography of elijah muhammad or any biography wallace fard muhammad.
he reiterated his point that america got what it deserved on 9/11 during that press conference.
he lost his chance to be involved in any dialogue on race in america save for as a punchline.

I merely said that some of his points are valid discussions. I don't think he should be the person leading those discussions.
I would be much more inclined to believe that AIDS was created to decimate gays before I believed it was created to decimate blacks and other people of color. But I don't believe those conspiracy theories.
I will say that I don't understand why people shouldn't be allowed to question their government. I say that as a general rule. People should be allowed to ask questions and seek truth where there is doubt.
My saying that is NOT a condoning of various conspiracy theories, but it is definitely a condoning of people's RIGHT to question. To dissent. To speak their minds.
And if that's worthy of a PLM rant, so be it.

i was just trying to see which of the issues you found so valid.
did someone tell him he wasn't allowed to speak? i think he should have a 24/7 pulpit. so should bammy's wife.

I found much of his "this is how white people are and this is how black people are" rhetoric to be insulting and his attempt to be the 5th Kang of Comedy. But ultimately, his argument that people who are different are not deficient was good. And I got what he seemed to be trying to do--explain that there are differences that evolved from our earlier roots.
I thought his slam at Cheney while defending his patriotism was valid.
I don't agree that the US deserved 9/11, but I do think we have to question when we've not acted admirably toward other countries.
I thought some of the NUANCES in what he was saying were valid discussions for the country. I don't think most of his tactics are going to get people to agree with him. I think some of the things he says are very troubling.
Regardless, ALL of what he was saying and how he was saying it will be a huge detriment to Obama.
