LOS ANGELES - The Oscars have a piece of the Rock. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Thursday announced Chris Rock will host the next Academy Awards telecast.

I am not a big Chris Rock fan myself...not sure if I see his style of humor and Oscar going together...but we will have to see -- I fugured Billy was out this year....

I don't know if he'll gel with the whole proceedings...but I know I adore Chris Rock, who, imho, is the funniest man around.

They should have chosen John Kerry. He'll be looking for work about that time and everyone thinks he's such a wonderful speaker.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

They had a lot of practice with Whoopi. I bet it will only be a 3 second delay.

Rock's done live TV before and never had to be bleeped. He's never been one to try and get away with anything like that, that I can recall.

Thank God! I agree with Robbiej Chris Rock IS the funniest person alive. Wanda Sykes is a close second. Maybe they should co-host!

Has anyone seen his cereal commercial from SNL? I can't say what the name of the cereal was here ( too un-PC) but its funny as hell.

When Chris Rock hosted the MTV VMA's in 1999 I sang with him -

It was at the Metropolitan Opera House in NYC. We performed Carmina Burana - which sort of 'morphed' into Ba wit da ba... and he came out sreaming My Name Is Chris Rock...

Anyway - he was very funny. And thoroughly enjoyable to work with.

However the Academy Awards and the VMA's are two distinctly different styles.

Zoran - it actually was pretty cool. I remember thinking it was the most ridiculous opening when we were rehearsing, but then it just worked.

And I'm hysterical at the Wanda Sykes, Chris Rock GIN GAME scenerio!
