I don't see how it could help or hurt either candidate. Bin-laden said that niether candidate will make American safer. Only by changing our foreign policy, he says. And Kerry doesn't have any significant foreign policy changes that differ appreciably from Bush's.

All I am saying is that if we let Bush get 4 more years then we deserve all the bad stuff coming to us. he is a Nazi. Thats the way I feel about him. I also hope that after he is defeated; he is fully investigated and held accountable for his stupidity.

How is that different than someone saying "the people of New York elected Hillary to the Senate and got what they deserved." (9/11)

Now, I'm not saying that, but it's basically the same as what Dame has just said.

I can't see how the new Bin Laden tape can benefit anyone but Bush. Believe me, I'm not happy about it. I'm a Kerry supporter. But whenever reminders of 9/11 surface it always seems to result in a boost for Bush. I can see it helping Bush in two ways. First, by playing into the fears of the American public; the more scared people are, the less likely they'll be to want to make a change. (The Bush campaign has been trying to capitalize on this since day one.) And second, people will see the release of this tape as an attempt by Bin Laden to influence the election (which I believe it is), and will vote for Bush out of spite. Which is ironic, because I honestly believe that Bin Laden would want to see Bush get (re)elected. I just don't see this as a good thing for Kerry.

It seems just to validate whatever you previously thought: If you thought Bush was incompetent, then it shows that he was incompetent to let Osama go on living.

If you thought Bush was strong on protecting us, then it gives you more reason to want Bush to protect you.

Like everything else this election season, it doea nothing to change anyone's mind. It only further polarizes an already polarized country.

Of course, the tape could lead people to vote for Bush out of fear. But, it is more likely to remind people that the SOB was never caught. Ultimately, I think it will help Kerry if it changes anyone's mind.

The news analysts are saying it will help Bush, "rally round the President when threatened" etc. The Bush people are saying "he attacked the President but the American people won't be swayed by what HE says and will stick with the President who can protect them."

If there are any people who haven't decided yet based on the "terror threat", I think it will help Bush. It's a gut-reaction thing, whereas to reason out "hey, why is the guy still around making videos?" is just too much of a stretch. If bin Laden thought he would be hurting Bush he was wrong. However, I think he and his "advisors" may be more savvy than that, and realize this may actually help Bush win. Bush has become the face of the enemy to the extremists and the war in Iraq has been a wildly successful recruiting and PUBLIC RELATIONS tool. Why would they want to lose that, in favor of an unknown quantity with proposed policies that may actually hinder their movement in various contries? The devil you know in this case, definitely.
