Good acting means doing a complete job. He did not.
It's like going to McDonald's and they forget to put the fries in your bag, and you don't notice until you get home. Even though it was the best Big Mac ever, they didn't do their job, and those fries would have made the meal complete.

Boston accents annoy me and I encourage all filmmakers to erase them permanently from the record. At least in FARGO the accents made the movie funnier.

Oh they are annoying. No one said otherwise. And North Dakota accents are also annoying and quite unattractive. The both add ambience to films, however.
