I just got back from Borders- I got "Lions Among Men". It's the new Wicked series installment!!! My fingers are tingling! I must read it! Am I the only one dying?!

Of course I have to reread Wicked and Son of a Witch before this AND have to finish the bottomless pit of long words and months of on-and-off reading "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. We're talking starting the newly bought book after the winter holidays. But still.

And I also got this really cool book where they TOTALLY examine Sweeney Todd piece by piece. It has like 50 pages dedicated to each major character and scene. It looks FABULOUS.

I couldn't get into Son of a Witch, either.

I know it took me a few tries because of that (and also because i was in 5th grade =-D) but it is SO worth it.

I have it on my Kindle, but haven't started it yet.....
I actually liked Son of a Witch...so am looking forward to this.

I'm glad that I wasn't the only one who had a hard time getting though Son of a Witch...
I will try and read the latest installment when my library gets it in.

I found Son of Witch rather interminable, and to be honest, I haven't liked anything he's written since Wicked.

What I find curious is that Maguire mentioned in an interview he has sort of a tacit agreement with Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman not to contradict anything the musical may have changed from his work in his subsequent works.

Michael Crichton did the same for "Jurassic Park." He had major characters come back to life after the movie altered the first book so much.

I mean, I guess I get it, since the musical sold more copies of his book than he did on his own, but that just seems so ... I can't even think of the right word.

I wonder if the Lion runs into Elphaba and Fiyero hanging out in a forest in Oz in that new book.

I had no idea that the only other novel I liked by Maguire, "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" was a tv movie...it's on this week.

Was it any good?

I don't remember watching it, so I can't tell you. I'm pretty sure it was a Wonderful World of Disney movie, so expect it be completely bowdlerized of any adult themes (much like the musical of Wicked). I do remember that I didn't care for the book. The only thing I liked about that book was the "twist" at the end, which I don't think you could effectively do in a movie.

Well, Stockard Channing and Jonathan Pryce...maybe I'll tivo it.

I only read this and the Snow White one, which I hated, so I guess it's more of a lesser evil.

I saw commercials last night for it, JG2...I'll double check.

It's on youtube in 9 segments I just found out.

And whoever told me that he is compromising the story for that musical put a dagger through my heart!
