I'll start.
People who for no seeminly apparant reason seem to have all day to go strolling down the stairs to the subway. TWICE today I had the subway doors close in my face because of two different people who wouldn't get the hell out of the way!!! Arrgh.
people whose metrocards have no money on them, but they swipe the same card 75 times
TOURISTS! Particularly ones who insist on standing smack in the middle of the sidewalk and those who stand on the corners, blocking pedestrian traffic in both directions. Oh, and ones who block 3 of 4 turnstiles while trying to help one person get through when there is a wall of people trying to get to work aren't fun either.

Why limit yourself to the stairs to the subway? There seem to be leisurely strollers everywhere I go, which drives me nuts because when I'm walking, I want to get where I'm going, dammit. And it's especially bad with the theater district crowds, unfortunately. Just thinking about how it was around Christmas last year makes me break out in hives.
The narrow aisles in grocery stores.

Oh, I am sorry. We will no longer come to your little thin island and spend our billions of dollars.....
(I am jealous that I do not live there)
Ok, so that's one....
I agree about the subway, and about all the tourists in Times Square standing in the middle of the sidewalk with their cameras and saying "Look at the pretty lights!"
I also hate those who are just dumb, such as the person I heard a couple weeks ago ask where Times Square was while standing on the corner of Broadway and 42nd Street.

Yeah - apparantly that's just something I'm not used to. I'm originally from Texas....where "everything is bigger"

Really, why must EVERYONE in the subway insist on getting in my way and walking MUCH slower than I do ALL THE DAMN TIME?
I thought of another one!
I HATE that there are no alleys for dumpsters, so everyone's trash is always on the sidewalks!
And I also hate alternate street side parking- instead of moving, everyone just double parks on the other side of the street!

Maybe if people left a little bit earlier for their destinations they wouldn't have to worry about slow people making them late.
Just kidding, I've already had Molotov cocktails tossed my way tonight. I don't need shot at too. I try to keep tabs on what irritates New Yorkers so I can avoid doing those things when I finally make my way over there.
Gunn, I thought I've told you- Everything annoys us, it's how we are. I, for one, hate everyone.
Well giving you less reason to hate me is good enough for me.
The constant, impossible traffic on 3rd avenue. Nothing to really do about it, but it's terrible when I'm in a rush and need a cab or am on the bus.
OK MJR,
I HAVE A LITTLE ASSIGNMENT FOR YOU. NEXT TIME YOU'RE ON VACATION, YOU HAVE TO SPEEDWALK EVERYWHERE YOU GO, DON'T STOP AND LOOK AT ANYTHING INTERESTING, DON'T EVEN STOP IF YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHERE YOU'RE GOING BUT YOU SUSPECT IT'S IN THE WRONG DIRECTION, AND ESPECIALLY DON'T STOP IF YOU SEE A PRETZEL VENDOR AND A GUY SELLING KNOCK-OFFS PURSES FIGHTING OVER A STREET CORNER. BECAUSE IF YOU DO, YOU WILL BE INCONVENIENCING THE LOCALS TERRIBLY, AND YOU KNOW HOW THEY HATE THAT.
I'M KIDDING. LISTEN, THAT WAS PROBABLY ME IN YOUR WAY ON THE STAIRS AND I'M SORRY.
BUT IF YOU THINK THAT'S ANNOYING, TRY LIVING IN FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA IN WINTER, WHEN HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF OLD PEOPLE DESCEND ON YOUR ALREADY CONGESTED TOWN FOR A MONTHS. YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT SLOW. AND THEY ARE ALL DRIVING CARS, BIG ONES, FOR THE MOST PART. AND KEEP IN MIND THAT PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IS WORTHLESS, SO ANYONE WHO CAN AFFORD A CAR HAS ONE.
YOU NEW YORKERS WOULDN'T LAST A DAY, ESPECIALLY SINCE MOST OF YOU CAN'T DRIVE. LOL
Seriously though, tourists should realize that our sidewalks are like their highways. They wouldn't stop and read a map smack in the middle of the highway, and they shouldn't do that in the middle of the sidewalks either. Just "pull off" to the side and let the flow of "traffic" continue. Problem solved.
and LOL MargoChanning.
People (and they are usually NYers) who decide that the stairs or the entrance into the subway are the perfect place to hang out and talk on their cellphones -- or have a lengthy parting conversation. MOVE IT *SSHOLE!!
Whew, that felt good.
I don't live in NYC, but when I lived in Wash. DC we had the same issues on the subway... tourists who stand at the turnstyles (sp) taking pix at 7:45 am as one's rushing down the escalator trying to catch the train that just pulled...
Isn't it nice thought that in DC and in London everyone seems to know to stand to the right on the escalator---or be mowed down unapolgetically.

Mayor Bloomberg!!!
The only thing he has done for the city is move smokers from inside bars, where they belong, to outside of bars where they don't belong. I have to walk through a cloud of smoke and a pile of cigarette butts to get past them.
