I, like Marianne, recently went on a trip to New York and left shaken and frightened. I was not expecting such a giant mass of people on every sidewalk and every street. It was impossible not to bump into people. I nearly broke down in tears right in front of Sardi's as I made my way from the Toys-R-Us.
Maybe all I need to do is to go back there enough times until I can get used to it. But it was a far cry from the small farming community where I grew up.

There are just so many people! I was afraid I would have been pushed onto oncoming traffic.
Talk about your missed opportunities...

You lived in New York when it was a farming community?
Didn't realize how old you really are.
Even with my ****ty phone pickpocketing experience, I love NY. Times Square effing sucks on Saturday nights (and Fridays, I'm sure too). But I love it here, one month into interning here for the summer.
See, I live in the middle of nowhere, but I love it there. I've noticed it is Times Square that gets extremely crowded because of tourists. However, if you turn down one of the streets from 7th ave. or Broadway, it usually is a bit less crowded. At least in my experience. Basically what I have learned from going there practically once a month since November is that you just have to keep walking and push your way through crowds and go around people if they are too slow.

If all the people in New York make you cry, stay away from Germany.
"But what if I offend them?"
Lord knows you offend most people here, yet you keep posting.

I hear Brooklyn isn't as crowded. Is that koo?

What drugs are you on?
I think you need some new ones.
Well, as long as you aren't actually pushing and shoving people, it's fine. You just have to find a path and go through a crowd that way.

What about just driving around on a bulldozer around the city?
Okay...wow... All I can say is that as long as you're not going through the crowd elbowing people that you're, for the most part, not going to offend them. AND, if you DO offend them, WHY would it even matter? They're strangers, they'll get over it!
It's a Cruel Sandwich thread, Liverpool, what did you expect ?
Am I the only one who enjoys Cruel's threads and the ensuing high jinks?

I am a New Yorker, and no matter how many times I go to Times Square, I will never get used to the amount of people there. My advice is, take the subway and go anywhere else but Times Square.
Oo! I want to go to New York and scare tourists now!
