If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

NOT RENT! It wasn't even filmed here!

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

Thank god for Amazon. Some of these are really good and some of these are really bad (and the sad thing is I've seen most of them).

On the Waterfront, mostly shot in New Jersey, was also partly filmed in NYC
2 other films dir. by Elia Kazan partly filmed in NYC:
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
America, America

Wasn't Billy Bathgate filmed partly in NYC?

And one to scare almost anyone from going to NYC (but IMO a great film)
Last Exit to Brooklyn

Thanks for all the great suggestions. Woody Allen is a good idea, and Neil Simon always makes me think of New York. (The Goodbye Girl is one of my favorite movies.) I was supposed to go see the SATC movie tonight with the same friend, however she is sick and can't go. (I'm going to see it alone, I don't care!) So maybe we'll go see that first and then go to her house and watch other NYC movies.
