re: new york welcomes popcultureboy!

Yeesh. Well, the trains were screwed up again last night. Nothing is simple in Manhattan.
And now I'm trying to do laundry and the super, who stays up until 4 AM blaring lovely salsa music, had tried to prevent anyone from getting into the laundry area by blocking the entrance with a large piece of sheet rock. So I moved it, did a load, came back and the sheet rock was back in place. I just moved it and put it in the dryer. Let's see if it's blocked again...this is what you get for keeping me awake and then you try to have your own little bit of privacy at nearly 11 am. Tough titty, I say.
SOrry to jack the thread. Back to Poppy.

Had a mimosa last night, as it happens. I think today might be a day of fruit martinis again. Who knows? I think the theme of the day should be green, as I am seeing Wicked at 3pm.

So, Musical of Musicals. It was cute and it was funny, but it wasn't QUITE the hysterical laugh fest I thought it would be. The performers were all fantastic and the Webber and Kander & Ebb sections were uproarious, but act one really dragged its heels, I felt.

And Pattifan, thank you SO much for reminding me I have a job and a life back in London. I will be starting back at work on the 31st of March, so if you make it to town to see Josh after that date, you had better stop by and say hi or I will never forgive you....

I guess Pop I'll be drinking Mojitos at Andrea tonight...extra mint will make it greener. Enjoy "WICKED" and I'll see you tonight.

re: new york welcomes popcultureboy!

I have a pathological aversion to Mojitos, but I think apple martinis would do the trick, no?

re: new york welcomes popcultureboy!

Ok, seriously, guys, you know why Poppy doesn't like mojitos? I fed him one and you should see what happens.
Ok, I'll tell you. He puts on his best performance of Idina Menzel as Elphaba. It's pretty impressive.
Give him two mojitos and he does Shoshana. Three and he gives his own hypothetical speculative performance of Chenoweth as Elphaba. That you just gotta see.

re: new york welcomes popcultureboy!

OK so I arranged with my friends to meet at the Gershwin yesterday at 1pm. I TOTALLY forgot that 1pm is lottery time, so I witnessed the unforgettable sight of people whooping and cheering and breaking down in tears when their name was called. Bless.

The show itself was a real riot. Much better than I thought it would be. The songs I already knew I liked, I absolutely loved when I heard them live (I even got goose pimples during the "we deserve each other" part of Dancing Through Life), and the songs I was less impressed with, hearing them live improved them a thousandfold. I already did my Shoshana impression for a few people but if anyone who hasn't heard it wants to hear it, let me know. It's not something that works when it's written down.

Now, can someone tell me why I am awake so freaking early? KMF, the joy of tomorrow is we can start relatively early, so you don't have to be out LATE late, just a little late.....

We don't even have to drink. We could just Fluff. Or perhaps a Vintage Fluff, if we felt like drinking......
