New glass-less 3D (I *think* this is real)

Quick primer on 3D TV:

Unlike movies, TV uses glasses in which each lens has shutters that open and close at a super fast speed. They are synced to alternate so that the eye is fooled into seeing added dimension.

(This shutter technology is also why 3D TV causes more headaches and dizziness).

Now check out this rather unique method of accomplishing the same thing without glasses.

Looks like a hoax to me.

While I admit the glass-less idea is appealing...how does this affect those of us who still wear glasses?

And, the fact you're blinking that fast for an extended amount of time can't be good for you.

At Expo 70 (Osaka Japan) in one pavillion (I think Russia) they had 3 D without glasses. It will go away if they continue to put every crappy movie out in it & charge $ 4 or more for the privilege of renting glasses.Much like facility fees, they will up this charge until people tire of paying it.

For a very small percentage of viewers like me, there is no 3-D.

I have been blind in my right eye since childhood and since 3-D needs stereoptic vision to "work", the point is moot.

Either it is a good movie/program or it is not, and 3-D cannot create quality when it doesn't exist--quality or 3-D. This is why I found Avatar lacking as film. I felt there was less there than met others' eyes.

If I were to watch a 3-D movie in 3-D with glasses which I have done (Kiss Me, Kate), I would see the film clearly, but in flat 2-D.

When 3D first came in the 50's the glasses were free. At some point putting every movie in 3D & constantly upping the cost of the glasses they will kill 3 D again.

I just don't find 3D that interesting. I find it an interesting gimmick when your only goal is to showcase the technology like at Disney World, but I don't want it to become the norm. It really doesn't add much for me. Like CGI, I found that using it doesn't necessarily enhance the quality of every film.
