Some of this surprised me, some was what I expected.

Either way, it's a decent assessment of where we stand in terms of people's feelings on the matter.

But it's really not. They say that that's the rub, but but even when it's not called marriage, plenty of people oppose extending the rights of civil union to gay people.

I'd like to see what role religion plays in these percentages, and how it breaks down.

I'm sure religion is the number one thing that makes people oppose gay marriage. There is no other logical reason.
