That diner dude with the bleached spiky hair, who looks like he just fell out of bed with a nasty hangover.

He was a past winner.

The Hardy Boys (first season winners) - show was cancelled. They weren't very good anyway. Actually they were quite annoying.

Guy Fieri - has that Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives show on although his original cooking show is no longer in production.

I assume that Amy Finley's show (last seasons winner) - The Gourmet Next Door was cancelled as it aired like only 3 times and comes up blank on the Food Network website.

I'm a little in love with Guy Fieri. I didn't know he won one of these until a few days ago, though.

This is my first season of this show. After the first episode, I'm totally hooked.

I was kind of surprised by Kevin's dismissal last night. It easily could have been Adam or Shane, and Nipa only was saved because her "culinary point of view" is different than anything on the Food Network right now. I'd have kicked her to the curb last night after walking out of the judging room.

I caught a few minutes of this and and episode or two of the last season- and it seems like you will NEVER get a "star" out of this system, only the 'least offensive' of your casting pool.

It's interesting to look at the actual Food Network Stars and wonder how each would fare on a show like this- I don't think any of them could win this contest.

As much as I said I wasn't going to watch, I tuned in (or got sucked in) last night. I'm really surprised, "raw egg guy" didn't get the boot, but I'm happy with their decision last night. That guy was a total tool.

Bobby Flay should really talk about "attitude". Jeez. Not that I agree with what Nipa did, but sometimes our defense mechanisms just kick in, and the first response is to want to flee.

Adam, Shane, and Nipa were all saved because they have some sort of hook. Nipa is Indian, Shane is an infant, and Adam is pretty darn funny (at least I think so). Kevin, on the other hand, had nothing unique going for him. His whole "food & romance" philosophy was a cliche from the beginning, and he did nothing to make it his own. When Lisa was told that her culinary point of view was nonsensical, she changed it when she was presenting her food on the train. Kevin, on the other hand, just repeated his whole "eat well, love well, live well" after he was told to make some changes. Had he listened to the judges and done a little tweaking, maybe things would have turned out differently.
