Since my brother has kidnapped the TV and is watching SAW....let's discuss a happy, really really really good movie...with one HELLA hot leading man.
And anne hathaway is awsome in this, too.
Who else has seen this?? I know CATSNY revival has...cuz Nicky (who's MINE, by the way) is his (her?) avatar.
So who else???
i saw it and loved it!!!!
Love it and the cast is fantastic. And yeah, Charlie Hunnam is hot.
and alan cumming was genious as that scottish guy!!!
I love this movie!
Fantastic cast, cute movie. LOOOVE Alan Cumming, and the little dance he does at the end.
I know. And I seriously want anne hathaway's wedding gown. sooo pretty, yet sooo simple
Barry Humphries as Mrs. Crummles is inspired casting. And I think the Infant Phenomenon is hilarious.
Anne Hathaway would look stunning in a paper bag.
indeed.
so here's the new question...
who's better..
Anne Hathaway or Emmy Rossum??
I saw Anne Hathaway, just because she seems more genuine.
Hathawaaaaay.
I'm starting another thread on this...I think that it shall be a good one!

Big Dickens fan here - I really enjoyed the movie, thought they did a nice job with it, and enjoyed the cast across the board. LOVED Juliet Stevenson as the evil Mrs. Squeers - she reminded me so much of Mrs. Tweedy in "Chicken Run" (anyone seen that?). If you liked "Nicholas" the movie, though, you also need to see the video of the 8 1/2 hour Royal Shakespeare Company stage version, one of the greatest Dickens dramatizations ever.
8 1/2 hours???
well........
maybe
but the guy in this version is hotter.

Charlie is pretty cute - LOL, when he got his "shirt off" scene at the school, I thought, "Gee, I never knew Victorian guys were that buff..."
And I really did enjoy Anne as Madeline, thought she did a very nice job.
I thought this version was OK. The 5 hour BBC production starring James D'Arcy was vastly superior.

forget the films referenced here, see the RSC production starring Roger Rees as Nicholas.
That was an unparralled theatrical event 20 years ago, and you can relive it, or experience for the first time, on VHS or DVD.
For those who love theatre this production is one you'll watch year after year.

Love Alan Cumming, and love the Highland Fling.
yesssssssssss
the highland fling....
I LOVE this movie!!!
sigh....my new sweet avatar won't work. hmmmm.. let's try again.
this is one of my favorite movies. Charlie is hot. and I'm glad they found a way to get his shirt off, I mean, how could they not have had his shirt off at some point? it would have been blasphemes. teamed with Jamie Bell Charile was able to deliver a worthy performance. Nathan is brilliant. The Dame is brilliant. Alan is brilliant. the production itself is visually stunning. no matter how many times I watch it I'm always enthralled.
but how could you not be enthralled by that???
<----------
it's true. but...he's mine. ha!
And indeed, the dame was SWEET!
I love the colors in this movie...does that make sense??
awesome movie! there was a thread about that somewheres... now i cant find it though! oy! anywho- love the movie Jamie Bell, Charlie, Nathan, Edna, Alan, etc... the whole cast is brilliant!!
it's Nickelby.
I liked this movie, but for some reason I didn't think Hataway was great in period. She did a good job, but not outstanding.
I haven't seen the Roger Rees version of Nicholas Nickelby, but I did see the James D'Arcy version and loved that one. I like this version. Some parts of this had stronger points than the D'Arcy version, but overall I liked the other version better. Mostly I think because I think because it was the first version of it I saw. Don't get me wrong I love this movie(the fact it's shorter and I can actually understand what the hell Fanny Squeers is saying, etc) but the one with James I thought was better. I have no complaints on Anne Hathaway, I thought she did a pretty good job. Just didn't think that Charlie Hunnam was the best choice for Nicholas.
