I have a friend called Sunday, so it doesn't actually sound that odd to me. I also have a friend with hippie parents who called her "Peyote" after what they were on when she was conceived. And I'm also basing this theory on the girl I had to teach called "Shiraz".

My mother's doctor's first name is "Sundance." She's a wonderful doctor, too. Her parents were hippies, as if you couldn't tell.

I actually sort of like Sunday. Yeah, some celebrity child names are weird, but not half as weird as some of the stuff I hear around town every day. I mean, it's always fun to slam celebs, but let's get real, people. Apple and Blanket are practically normal compared to the effed-up names out there in the real world. And then there are the normal names that have to be misspelled to seem unique and different.
Sunday? Pretty.
Shepatrick? Hell, no.
H'olleigh? I hope your child slaps you.

Am I the only one who finds it funny (and/or creepy, I can't decide) that Keith has a song called "Raining on Sunday", about the, um, things that couples sometimes do on those rainy sundays?
Raining on Sunday
Raining on Sunday
Call the understudy / I can't go on tonight / I'm drinking with my buddy / I'm getting good and tight / Before they raise the curtain I'll be higher than a kite / So call the understudy
I can't go on tonight

What name has Nicole given her new lips?
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

Matthew McConnaughey's brother, Rooster, named his son Miller Lyte after his favorite drink.
Even scarier is the fact that I know this information.
Not kidding - Miller Lyte

Speaking of Matthew M., he and his girlfriend had a baby boy on Monday night, the same day as Nicole. No name yet - *shudders waiting for it*.

I hate myself a little bit for actually really liking what Nicole Ritchie named her daughter, Harlow.

dd, what do you expect from a guy named rooster? i mean i know rooster was the title of a john wayne movie (with katherine hepburn), but even then it was a nickname for goodness sakes.

I remember reading somewhere that David Carradine named his son "Free" and as soon as the kid grew up he changed it to something like Tom or John.

The mystery of the name is solved:
>>>NICOLE Kidman's father yesterday solved the mystery behind his newborn granddaughter's name, revealing it was inspired by Australian artist Sidney Nolan's muse, Sunday Reed.
While the world's media puzzled over Kidman and her country husband Keith Urban's unusual choice of name for their baby Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, Antony Kidman revealed he and his wife had suggested it.
"There was a lady named Sunday Reed who was a prominent patron of the arts in Victoria," Dr Kidman said from his practice in Lane Cove.
"I have read a bit about Sunday Reed and her husband John - she was a key mover and shaker in the arts around the beginning of the century. The name Sunday struck me as being a nice name for a woman, so my wife and I mentioned it."
Sunday Reed was famous for her patronage of the arts, but also for her relationship with Sidney Nolan. Reed and her husband took part in a menage-a-trois type affair with the artist, which lasted nine years in the 1930s and resulted in Sunday becoming Nolan's muse.
The connection could be the reason behind Kidman and Urban's keen interest in a Sidney Nolan exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW shortly before they announced the pregnancy.

I had one student name her baby Dijon, like the mustard. Another named her baby Polo.

Oh and as far as the fruit names go, it might be a British thing? Any Brits let me know if I'm wrong. I just remember in that movie with Amanda Bynes there were two twins named Pear and Peach.
