The wise and munificent Barack Obama understands there is hunger and privation in the land. Being familiar with the legacies of Hazen Pingree, Henry Ford, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and other great social visionaries he has chosen to forgo the elitism represented by large, lush green expanses of decorative lawn and has caused to be planted a people's garden. He urges communities, urban and suburban, and citizens, jointly or individually, to do the same with their open spaces, so that all may benefit from nature's bounty during these difficult times.
