#1No Sound From Youtube Videos
Posted: 10/5/13 at 8:08amAny computer experts tell me how to fix this problem? Thursday, I noticed I didn't have sound coming from my speakers. Wednesday, I cleared my browser history and thought I did something wrong, so that it affected my speakers. (On a level of computer knowledge I'm about a 5) So I am thinking either that or my speakers were broken. My brother came over and went on a music station website and there was music coming from my speakers, so it is not that. I did a system restore, to go back before I did the clearing of the browser history and still no sound from youtube. At this time, I believe I am getting sound from some other video sites, just not youtube. Can anybody tell me what is wrong? Thanks, Art

Posted: 10/5/13 at 8:20amThis has happened to me before. I traced it by checking all the programs I have that play sound and making sure the volume is not turned off on one of them. It can be a random video playing program or music player that you use that has the volume down and it's affecting other things like youtube. I've traced it back to my GOM video player and to an old music player (Musicmatch) as well as others.

Posted: 10/5/13 at 8:37amArt, I don't play music on the computer, other than if someone on here sends the new (Cher video,etc) or just listing to youtube. It is affecting the sound on other sites like my travel company's videos. Again. my computer expertise is not that great. But I right clicked on my speaker icon, and no volume is set at zero. How would I check which programs play sound? Thanks, Art

I just went on TMZ and Huffington Post sites, just to see, if sound is there. It is. It seems like it is mostly youtube.

I think youtube runs on adobe flash to play their videos. So I would check anything else that uses adobe flash player. Check your quicktime player, Real player and Windows media player...things like that that also use flash. Also make sure your flash is up to date

Posted: 10/5/13 at 9:51amThis happened to me as well the other day. For some reason mid video the sound went out. I noticed below the video that the volume somehow lowered itself. Once I moved the volume control on youtube I was fine again. Not sure your problem is as simple as just trying that?

Posted: 10/5/13 at 9:58amThank you, Huss417. I just tried that and now it works. A friend also told me that youtube controls the sound on other video sites, so that is probably why my tourvideo did not have sound. Thank you.

Wait a minute. So you're telling me that the reason you're getting "no sound from youtube videos" is that the volume on your youtube videos was turned down?
Please don't take offense when I tell you that you're being pretty generous when you give yourself a 5 on computer knowledge.
But seriously, glad your problem is fixed.

Posted: 10/5/13 at 2:44pmI figured that was the problem when I opened this thread. That's been happening to me too. Every time I open a new youtube video the audio is muted on the youtube page and I have to unmute it. Not sure why that's happening. It seems to have made itself the default setting along with playing videos in the lowest quality.

@ArtMan
Glad it was as simple as that. A friend of mine is having the same issue as well. He and I are both on Macs so not sure if there is something going on with that?

Posted: 10/5/13 at 4:32pmArtscallion, upon further research, this was a problem that youtube was having since the last Microsoft update. And has been happening to a lot of people. Since I never adjusted the volume, I would not have thought that since the update it went back to mute. But thanks anyway for the insult.
