#26i see brown people

the reference was to "brown-skinned" people. it was a retort to those who claim that we can never bring democracy in iraq. like the folks on democraticunderground.com.
as far as "my government", it is his, dammit, and if you don't like it, he'll take the bureau of homeland security and go back home to crawford, dammit! wait, i mean, the irs will audit your ass.

"America's armed forces are performing brilliantly, with all the skill and honor we expect of them...
We'll also need to continue training the Iraqi troops. I was disappointed in the performance of some of the troops. Some of the units performed brilliantly. Some of them didn't. And we need to find out why. If they're lacking in equipment, we'll get them equipment. If there needs to be more intense training, we'll get them more intense training. But eventually Iraq security is going to handled by the Iraqi people themselves...
Some of the debate really centers around the fact that people don't believe Iraq can be free, that if you're Muslim or perhaps brown skinned you can't be self-governing and free. I strongly disagree with that. I reject that because I believe freedom is the deepest need of every human soul. And if given a chance, the Iraqui people will be not only self-governing, but a stable and free society..."

#32Here's a Puzzler for you...
Posted: 4/14/04 at 9:16pm
A. One person has perfect command of the English language and its vocabulary, is articulate and knows grammar backwards and forwards/inside and out; uses that knowledge of language to be degrading, critical, mean-spirited to fellow human beings and to make all others perceive themselves to be inferior to him/her.
B. The other person stumbles over pronounciation, sometimes articulates fractured sentences, may sometimes come across as not the brightest person in the country;speaks with honesty and integrity; uses his/her less-than-superior command of English to express positive thoughts and not to belittle, criticize or cause hurt to fellow human beings.
Whose company would you enjoy over dinner, person A or person B?
Bonus point if you care to identify which you believe to be the better person and why.

Clarification: Has person B made decisions that, despite his folksy charm, have resulted in massive losses of life? What does person B do for a living; is it something that doesn't require "brightness?" Is "good enough" good enough for this person? (with a tip of the hat to Boondocks.) Are these things that person B projects just masks behind which massive ties to corporations are hidden? Is his "kindness" in fact, phoney baloney?
In spite of all the listed faults of person A, can he spot phoney baloney a mile away and can you trust that when he sounds the b.s. detector you can pretty much guarantee there's a load of b.s. there to be detected?
Will fortune cookies be served after this dinner?

That's a crazy choice for two reasons.
1. Why does someone who speaks correctly necessarily have to be mean-spirited?
2. We're talking about president of the United States, not a dinner date.

We're TALKING ABOUT THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES????? Oh my god, I thought this was rhetorical.
Absolute deal breakers if this person wants to be the President of the United States:
* stumbles over pronounciation,
* sometimes articulates fractured sentences,
* sometimes come across as not the brightest person in the country
Now the above three things seem to be Bush. And should be deal breakers for anybody who thinks there is a decline in standards in this country, from politics down to popular culture including the rap music of the kids of today and contemporary Broadway. But the following:
*speaks with honesty and integrity; [this has been proven wrong countless times again with Bush; this is the most secretive administration in history]
* uses his/her less-than-superior command of English to express positive thoughts and not to belittle, criticize or cause hurt to fellow human beings; [uh, just to pick one, his decision to say he supports a constitutional ban on gay marriage does all those things in one fell swoop].
And I thought it was just a dinner date.

Would these be the same inarticulate, but sincere words he's using to stoke the fires of the Christian Right and to craft the case for that Constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage. THOSE positive thoughts?
And call me crazy, but I don't think it's unrealistic to expect the "leader of the free world" to have a command of the English language.

If either Person A or Person B were described as being the President the star-f**kers would choose the President simply because he's President, skewing and devaluing any responses.
