Has anyone ever had problems (specifically with a Sony) power adapter where the metal section of the tip gets so hot it starts to....melt and deteriorate?

This recently happened to mine. I called up Sony and found out what probably caused the problem, which was that my laptop was on my bed, and got really hot because the vents were blocked. I bought a Lap Desk, which seems to have fixed that problem. However, now my adapter doesn't fit correctly and I usually have to jiggle it around to get it going. I'm planning on buying a new one, but my mother is concerned that perhaps the tip was so hot that I may have caused damage to the inside of the computer.

Has anyone had similar problems? Or know if that's even possible? Thanks.

I don't know how to help you, but thanks for the heads-up, seeing as we have the same computer. re: Notebook Power Adapters

Thinking back on just how much time my computer was on my bed and how much damage I could have conceivably caused....GRR.

... as I continue to sit on my bed with my computer

... and eat over it.

They have the Lap Desks at Bed Bath and Beyond, Barnes and Noble, and Staples. Pretty colors, too. re: Notebook Power Adapters
