I think the format is much better than AI and I hope they ramp up the theatricality and stage effects, though now that it is official this is Simon's last season on AI I'm sure there will be lots of hot mess-ery to go out on a high note (or low note) to hold us over until Fall '11 when X FACTOR premieres.

Who will complete the Judge's Panel on X FACTOR? We know Simon and Paula are official... will they bring over Cheryl Cole? The only person I'm SURE they won't ask will be Ruthie Henshall, lord love her.

The X-Factor is a much better show than American Idol. I would love to see Cheryl judging over here in the US... so long as they don't bring over Louis xD

Caught the tale end of the last X-Factor in the UK and I LOVED it, although, Simon was awfully generous with his compliments... Anyway, I'm pretty excited Now that Simon & Paula have officially left AI, who's excited about X Facto It is much more entertaining than American Idol, imo.

I urge you to take the time you waste following this stuff to investigate little-known artists of any genre and give up this pre-fab variety. Abandon Entertainment, Inc.

Personally, I don't give a damn about any of the music produced from any of the shows... I just want to watch TV

I watched a little of X-Factor, and I agree that it is the far more entertaining show. I do love Idol though.

Oh, dumb stupid Pgenre. The presale is happening for Yoko's concert at BAM next month, with special guests Kim and Thurston from Sonic Youth, Paul Simon, Eric Clapton and Bette Midler. Those artists see something in Yoko that you manage to overlook while being "excited" over X Factor. Yeah, that's right. You're the one with taste.

Namo, since when can you not do both?

Do both? Nonsense. Namo is right. Once I imported Kelly Clarkson into iTunes my Mates of State, Amanda Palmer, Hush Sound, A Camp, and Basia Bulat albums all mysteriously disappeared. The disastuh was two fold when Adam Lambert's CD was introduced. He killed Shudder to Think, Imperial Teen, Lamya, Chris Thile, fun., Cibo Matto, Portugal. The Man, Company of Thieves, and took down both Grant Lee Phillips and Grant Lee Buffalo. I have only one David Cook song, but it still managed to surreptitiously remove my entire Empires CD.

American Idol is serious business.

Oh, I don't mind Ono. But, really, Namo, she is the only performer I can remember you ever saying anything positive about, at least as far as popular music performers go. Care to add any others to the list? Or would you prefer to just go to town on everything you don't like (which seems to be everything, or at least everything post 1967 or so)?

And tearing down other people's taste does not make your taste better by default.

p, if you're going to attack someone, you might bother to learn something about them otherwise your blatantly wrong accusations just confirm the conventional wisdom that you're a know-nothing failed fluffer.

I hope whatever Simon does to the American importation he makes certain the only thing that is similar to Idol is him being a judge. That means no Randy Jackson, the dog pound, or Seacrest. I wonder who would be with him as judge.

American Idol is a tired format, X Factor may be just as manufactured/manipulated and generic...but it makes it entertaining along the way.

The test for Simon is to get the right judges. I don't see the point in Cheryl Cole doing it. It worked in the UK because she was famous for her band 'Girls Aloud', plus despite her glamourous (and fake) looks she remained down to earth. Her strong accent and total anonymity in the US points to it being a bit of a gamble, though...people are shallow and she is gorgeous...

Part of me hopes they keep the format of guest performers on the result show, it's cool to see regular top star performances (usually you have to wait for award shows)...but that does come at the cost of the charts being dictated by whoever performs that week.

I take it they'll ditch American Idol now? No Simon Cowell surly means failure, no?

1) Just because you don't remember anything else, yet you choose to remember the easiest one to take cheap shots at, is not my problem at all.

2) I think you're confusing me with somebody else, because this pre-1967 thing is INSANELY arbitrary and bears no reflection on anything I ever posted here, ever.

3) You asked who's "excited" about faux contasts of prefab garbage from the entertainment industrial complex and I made a suggestion of things that might get people REALLY excited.

4) I'm sure people with "new" personalities here mix up the opinions of those of us who have been consistently one person the whole time rather frequently.

5) Douche.

"5) Douche."

I can't decide if that's meant as a description or recommendation.

In this case, I suppose either works.

Wait, isn't Idol just the American version of X-Factor? Is there a major difference between the two?

Craww- your post is hilarious! Personally, I have always liked watching talent- or people who think they have talent. I don't care who the judges are. However, everyting Simon Cowell does is completely manipulated.
