I think the word nude sounds kinda 1960s/1970s and a little sleazy. I think naked is more noble and organic. The word nude makes me queasy, whereas I am ok with naked.
Like if someone said "I'm nude" that would freak me out. "I'm naked" is much better.
Then there is always the urban take on it "nekkid." "Get nekkid" is in more R and B songs than I can count.
Any thoughts?

Depends on who we're talking about.
For example, "The Thinker" statue is nude, whereas Chris Meloni is simply bare-ass, fresh-from-the-shower naked.

bare "Nathan Lane is bare."
disrobed "Gwynneth Paltrow Disrobed."
nude "Courtney Love is Nude again."
stripped "Elizabeth Taylor was drunk and stripped again."
unclad "Judi Dench was revealed unclad when her dressing room door opened."
unclothed "Michael Jackson Unclothed is a sight I hope to never see again."
undressed "One of my favorite MTV shows was Undressed."
denuded "The unconscious Jake Gyllenhall was denuded by the crowd outside Splash before the ambulance could arrive."
peeled "Marylin Monroe peeled off her clothes."
raw "Anthony Kiedis was raw by the end of the first song."
stark "Michael Musto was stark naked in the confessional!"
unveiled "Slowly, Ryan Seacrest unveiled himself."

Naked connotes a sense of vulnerability.
Nude can be a color, naked, doubtful.

Since he has denied the gay rumors and come out as a "straight man who loves to shop over football" I just wonder who would be attracted to him-neither women or men. I think his face is changing as well. When he first appeared on the scene, I found him very cute and I think he looks martian-like now. Did he convert to scientology. I'd still scope him out naked.

Phantom thanks for the Broadway actor analogy. That brings it all together for me. I guess Bernadette Peters would be nude and Amy Spanger would be naked.
