I can't tell one sock from another. Nor do I care, truthfully.
But I honestly don't get the mentality of "shedding one's skin" to suddenly be reborn with a new name a new future a new reputation... and the same old personality that wrecked everything to begin with.

I knew she was Rath. I know I don't understand the technicalities of these things, but is it considered a sock when somebody stops posting under one screen name and starts posting under a new one because (s)he's burned too many bridges under the old name? Well, her BFF, Donna Vivino, is playing the Elphie stand-by on one of the tours. Maybe Donna called Rath her "magic" once, hence the screen name. Although, technically, shouldn't it be "eplhiestandby'smagic"?

If at first you don't succeed, try try again! I think it's wonderful that so many BWWers are resilient enough to keep trying over and over and over and over and over again. Those of us who have only ever had one persona here should never gloat or mock these folks. And we definitely shouldn't hate sockpuppets. Some of my closest friends are sock puppets.
I bet they never chose to be sockpuppets--they were just born that way. And they should not only have the right to marry nonsockpuppets, they should be allowed to marry each other and make lil footiepuppets. And if any of them decide they don't want to keep their little footiepuppet, maybe people like me and my boyfriend can adopt their lil footiepuppet. But only if they aren't from Africa! I don't need people thinking I'm doing it as a publicity stunt for jerby.com and JerbyVids.

Have you guys never read a lesbian mystery? You cover your tracks by picking an unlikely new name to throw off suspicion.
Por ejemplo, if Rath had chosen "BritneyWasDoingHighEnergyPerformanceToursAt15" it would have been too obvious. Or "DryOldLadiesWithTwoOlivesAreMYtinis!" Then we would have known too.
