my knowledge of plate tectonics is limited, but isn't it better that this pressure is releasee in :little" rumbles and whatnot, and therefore lessons the chances of a massive 9.0 hitting? Either way there's nothing anyone can do except pray and stay safe, so all you West Coasters be careful!!

Daydreamer, Sundays quake was 20 miles south of here, and it did NOT bring the Tsunami warning. What brought the Tsunami warning was TUESDAY'S quake centered off off Eureka, CA

Sorry it took so long Elphaba, I just got back from work. Yeah, there was another one last night (early morning) and again it was offshore by Eureka. I didn't feel it but it did magange to tinkle the glass a little. What is that, four in week now? There wasn't a tsunami warning this time.

Did anyone else get a call on their cell phone about the tsumani warning?

"I'm new to CA. What's the difference between a rolling earthquake and a different kind? I just felt shaking."

It depends on the type of surface waves. "Love waves" move side to side (shaking) and "Rayleigh waves" move up and down like waves in the water (rolling). Which waves you get depends on the type of fault line that triggered the quake. Yay for my C+ in geology last semester.
