OMG I'm looking at the Macy's FIREWORKS rehearsal right now.

I'm in midtown west (very high up) and this looks to be somewhere about 23rd st east or lower. Cool!

Edit: Oh, yeah, I forget, they usually do a practice run of the July 4th thing a coupla wks. ahead (every year.)

Or - it's some rich guy party!

It's still going on, loud and looks fab! Probably the Macy's trial run. Looks like it's in the exact place in the East River. Hard to tell from here on the west side. Anyone live way downtown? The all RED fireworks are gorgeous.
Update: 9:55. If you've never seen this before, NYers and tourists, don't miss it this year.
It was better than ever! Now I don't have to get squeezed in like a sardine on 7/4/09.

I went on a date with a guy Saturday night. He took me to a great mexican place in Chelsea, then he said he wanted to show me his rooftop. So there we are on the roof of his Chelsea apt. building, and the next thing we know, there are fireworks going off in the distance. And then we made out.

Jealous?

The Macys Fireworks are on the Hudson this year. I did see some of the ones you were referring to just over some of the downtown buildings from where I was in Lincoln Harbor, NJ.
