Context is everything. The song 'Glory' from SELMA didn't need a ton of musical ornamentation because it had to marry Common's verse and John Legend's chant. It's one of the few singer/rapper collabos that seems to enjoy a broad appeal across a number of demographics. Perhaps it's not everyone's taste in music for a song on a motion picture soundtrack but mission accomplished.

On a side note, I'm a huge fan of Bach's Cello Suites but didn't expect to hear Rostropovich playing on the SELMA soundtrack.
