Commute not bad at all. Full trains, but lots of them! No one threw themselves on the tracks, which always messes things up. I was prepared for much worse, but I was able to get on both trains (transferring, you know) without a wait and the great mood of everyone on the ride was a nice capper to the evening, considering how awful the red line can usually be at that time of night.
(Pictures still coming)

This is very encouraging information, Sue.
Friends just called me from California asking if they can stay with us in January. They've decided to fly cross-country to stand in the bitter cold of Washington DC in the winter to attend President Obama's Inauguration.
Of course I said they could stay, but I didn't know how to advise them regarding the crowds, how awful the commute might be, and so forth. Now I'M thinking that maybe I want to go too!

Penny, keep in mind that Chicago is bidding for the 2016 Olympics and is concentrating very hard on huge events like this to prove we can handle it. After last night I think they are heading in the right direction.
D.C. I am sure has it down pat. The key is to be patient, practice holding your water, and comfy shoes. The vicodin didn't hurt, either!

I find with enough Vicodin one doesn't even care if one doesn't hold one's water.
Nice pix, sue!

Great pictures. Sueleen it looks like you were real close to the stage (or is that my imagination).
For those of you who are considering attending the Inauguration Day Parade, tickets must be obtained through their local state representative. That's what I heard on the news this morning in DC. I sent in my request for 2 tickets.
