October Surprise?

Where is our October Surprise? Only 12 hours left in October. Will Joe the Plumber claim an affair with Biden? A secret tape of Obama shooting a bald eagle while hunting with Cheney? It certainly is not Ayers or Khalidi? A tape from Osama this afternoon?

Whenever I hear "October Suprise" I always think it sounds like a dirty sex act, like "Cleveland Steamer" or "Dirty Sanchez."

I think McCain's SNL appearance. He's going to pretend it's still Halloween, and go as Howard Beale:

"OPEN THE WINDOW AND SHOUT, 'I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!"

I think he would be more believable as Edie Beale.

re: October Surprise?

The only October Surprise seems to be that McCain has shrunk Obama's lead down to 3 or 4--almost an easy-steal level.

The October Surprise is that on November 4 we have another nail-biter, despite an unpopular war and a failed economy.

That's a scary enough October Suprise for me.

I agree, but at least today's Gallop is up, posted at 1:30. Obama has an eight point lead among likely voters, his highest in that group yet. This is the first Gallop sampling post infomercial (they drew the distinction, I didn't). I was afraid the blanketing of the airways would be damning, but from reporting and these polls, there seems to be a consensus: it helped. The show even beat PUSHING DAISIES on ABC, and I'd thought DAISIES would've pulled a bunch of curious folk, ODing on the election. I think we'll be biting our nails, yes, but maybe we'll continue to see this movement over the weekend. The McCain crap isn't sticking, and with Palin's 'not ready' number at 59%, we have reason to feel hopeful (again).

3 or 4 point lead? really? All the polls I've seen are 7, 8 sometimes 9 points. And isn't Obama the one that keeps getting further and further ahead in the swing states? I generally rely on CNN and that's what they've been reporting.

According to an article in the Washington Post, McCain's camp claims that the gap between Obama and McCain has been closed.

re: October Surprise?

That claim is just silly. There are so many polls by various organizations that clearly show Obama in command of McCain!

PRS, I keep hearing the words to the tune of "Toledo Surprise" from "Thoroughly Modern Millie."

"Toledo Surprise" is from THE DROWSY CHAPERONE.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

Palin's speech in Florida is on MSNBC. Shrill lies! She is horrible and a disgrace to the Republican Party!

October Surprise ...

I think I remember my mom trying to make that one month out of the Betty Crocker Cookbook.

I'm pretty sure it had something to do with leftovers and trying to make them more interesting.

Well that's it then, he's obviously unfit. Is it too late to get Hillary on the ballot?

Really? The half sister of the father he only met once, is an illegal alien? OMG! If only we'd known sooner! This is worse than that video of Michelle preaching racism and hate at the pulpit of Trinity Church that Papa kept insisting was real and would be released in October.

Give them a break. It's all they've got and it's a day late.

To make sense out of all the pollinf data, I highly recommend www.fivethirtyeight.com. They rate pollsters based on past performance and methodology. It's an invaluable asset to try to make sense out of all the information.
