Odd iTunes Occurence

I noticed today on my iTunes that it has taken some of my CDs on there and separated each track of my compilations and put them in their own separate albums.
I've been able to correct some of them by checking off the "compilation" box, yet in some albums it won't put the songs in their correct order, even though they're numbered correctly on the "info" tab.
Has anyone else encountered this? Anyway I can correct this?
Thanks.

Then check that all the universal tags (i.e. the ones that apply to the whole album; album title, year, disk 1 of 1, etc) are the same. Especially check the "album artist." I've found iTunes will sometimes separate the tracks of a single album and identify them as different albums if this one is not the same for the entire CD.

Thanks. After further inspection I found the differences in "Album Artist". Once I deleted everything in that field, I was able to get them on the same album and in the correct order.
What's odd is that everything was fine until this morning. It's like iTunes went ahead a jumbled things on its own.

I hate when hat happens. Especially for cast albums where each track lists the individual performers instead of say "original cast".
I just imported Sister Act and the cover flow has like 16 different albums.

However, I have had the strangest problem when making playlists on my iPod (it's an iPod touch that's almost 2 years old). All of the tracks will be on the playlist on my iTunes, but then all but one will transfer to the playlist on my iPod. I've tried to import that one song alone and it doesn't work, so I usually have to delete the entire playlist on iTunes and try again. It only started happening recently, though, and I have no idea why.
