We just got upgraded in my office. Lots of really great, useful stuff ... but SO counter-intuitive. It took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to turn on the guides in PowerPoint. Not wild about the "ribbon" instead of menus. Just gotta get used to it, I guess.

... another 15 minutes trying to figure out how to work the backgrounds. *sigh* I'm so afraid to venture into Word and Excel ...

Just a warning about a problem that I came across. If you e-mail a file (at least with Word) to someone who has the XP or an older version of the Office Suite, they will have to download a compatibility pack (or whatever it is called) to be able to view the file. I also hate the layout of Word in Office 2007.

Yeah ... we are actually set-up in compatibility mode, meaning we automatically save down, since Office 2007 is not compatible. You can tell the 2007 docs with the added x at the end of the file type, e.g. .docx.

I usually end up saving the word documents in a prior version if I need to share it.

wait til you try to format a doc in Word that requires more than just adjusting the margins. God forbid you have to use custom style sheets.

Typical. In simplifying the process, they've added several more mouse clicks.

Darn. I thought the x mean adult content.

New rule of thumb: if I can't find it on the ribbon or menus, right-click.

In Word, just do a "save as" Word 97-03 document.

I have become used to it and like the features, but I have not tried Power Point. I have to give a seminar next week, so I will have my first taste of it.

brd ... be prepared to be confused for a bit. It's cool ... but not intuitive. And I work on powerpoint a lot.

Why would an office be upgrading to Office 2007 when Office 2008 is already out?

I saw the title of this thread, and thought it was going to be about Jim and Pam.
