Warning: very loong post...but lots to discuss and I'm leaving for disney tomorrow so gotta get some stuff in...

Okay, so my final big thursday in the city(softball, show, other treats) b/c I start a class and rehearsal at least until softball ends. Kinda bittersweet. Very briefly, pleasant last softball game. I was sad that DRS wasn't playing, but I watched Hairspray play Fiddler w/ Mistress and a trumpetist from fiddler was playing the "charge" music and very nervously, I went over and asked him to teach me the notes so I could play on clarinet and now I can play it, it excites me. He was soo nice and I just told him how much I love and admire pit, etc. I was sooo happy. Okay, back on topic..

After fun time at museum of TV where I'm a member and got in free, I went to TKTS. At this point I got myself very excited to go to DRS, so when i saw it was at 35% I was like whatever, go for it. They told me they only had partial view seats...which confused me b/c I sat in front row all the way to the side, how can anything be partial if that's not? Not that I cared, it was my 5th time seeing the show...well it ended up being a box! Never sat there before, I was pretty excited.

So then I headed over to the signing. I got there prob like 5:30, I actually hopped to the end of the line...twice...if I knew I'd have to do it again, wouldn't have done it...I was last but then people who were working there came behind me, it was so pointless...anyway well the major reason I was going or at least to say I was going was for Joanna, who was not there....grrr. Sara had also left, but I've talked to her at softball before, she's nice, I like her. Anyway, Sherie was first so I don't even remember...I think I said I was seeing the show for the 5th time or something...I'm starting to get so many autographs from this cast I run out of things to say...then was Greg who was being his normal self, talking to everyone, everytime the line didn't move I decided it was his fault haha, so he actually started signing before he looked up and saw that it was me, kinda funny. I whined that I missed Joanna again, Greg said yeah she is quite the elusive one, sometimes we're not sure she even exists...hahaha. Then I told him I'm coming to the show tonight in the box so he said oh, you should come to "talkback." He just mentioned that like 210 kids would be there after the show and I should just go downstairs and if they ask me for a ticket just say that like he invited me and I'm here for his talkback, and that would be fine. So I was like sure...wasn't positive what a talkback was though...ohh and then I mentioned something about the cam and he apologized for the wireless problems I of course said don't worry, we appreciate everything we get from that, etc. Ooh then I mentioned I liked the pose it was stuck on which he proceeded to do live for me at the table haha that was amusing. So yeah finally I realized I was holding up the couple people who shouldn't have gotten behind me, hrmph, and then I see my booklet is all autographed at the end of the table. And I kinda look at John and Norbert and David and some guy's like okay miss let's go or something so I kinda...went very quietly eh ee okay. Feel better though, was kinda embarassed, but read on the board they weren't that talkative anyway.

Then I met back up with Mistress to see Matt Morrison on Seth's chatterbox(will get to posting about that on another thread). Though she said a talkback is like a q&a session, so hey it sounded cool to me.

Now the show...for me, it was cool and fun enough. It was really cool seeing the show for the first time after going backstage, watching some Gregcam, knowing what else goes on, looking for ensemble members--ooh I kept finding Andrew, I was happy to see him not in the hotel costume. It's him and Rachelle who do the final dance solo in "The More We Dance," the only place I think if you've seen the show you might be able to place him. Of course cheered loudly kinda by myself when Greg walked on(not really an easy entrance to applaud I realized and w/ the orch I could barely hear me...oh well). And umm, yeah still happy to see the show anyway. Oh and I ended up sitting in the box right behind where Norbie goes before "Oklahoma?" He nodded at me as he walked in, it was amusing.

But this group...well they took up I think the entire rear mezzanine and they were so loud and enthusiastic that it caught onto the whole audience and it was just the best audience I've ever attended a show with. Other then Greg(hrmph), screamed for everyone's entrances, especially John, laughed so loud, we applauded a lot...Norbie's physical comedy w/ the beef jerky, just I dunno so many moments that we were so into it that applause occured. You could definitely tell the cast was loving it. It was also great for me, some of the jokes I pretty much have memorize, but when so much laughter is going on, they still seem that funny and made me laugh more. Though I still was the only person to laugh during the My Fair Lady reference...

most random moment...the end of "Dirty Rotten Number" when Norbie and John sat back in their chairs, the applause was huge, it went on for a while...and then...it just randomly turned into a standing ovation! The only thing I could think is that the audience thought the show was over?? So I was basically laughing, but apparently it wasn't that they just I dunno. John and Norbie just tried to hold themselves together but they were losing it, Norbie even tried lowering his hands...finally he got the next line out. It was a good couple minutes. Very very amusing. Ooh, I think there were a couple moments where they were trying to hold it in...I think after the line about John being old and grey, he started laughing and Norbie was trying to hold his in.

(Ooh one more random note a really awesome guy behind me kept screaming for the pit with me, I never have a buddy to scream and cheer for the pit with me, he was awesome!...okay once again back on topic...)

So as I talk about the "talkback" I still haven't figured out all the details, so it's just kind of things I noticed...Barb, if you know more about this who these people were, etc. that'd be great b/c I'm still slightly confused...

So Greg told me to go downstairs but all the kids were still in the rear mezz so I just walked there and just kinda started talking to some of them and then people were directing them down to the front rows, so I should have just gone, oh well. I just got asked if I was with them and I said oh well Greg invited me to this so they were like oh okay...so that was cool. So they were wearing kinda like press ticket thingies...that said people to people on them and ambassadors. Again, partially why I'm not entirely sure who they are.

Anywayz, we all sat and Greg came out and then I realized he was actually behind the whole thing. Again, things I tried to follow...the "head" of the "program" where I know people to people was mentioned said Greg was a good friend of hers and when they had to pick a show they knew it had to be DRS so Greg sent this little thing up after tonight's show and apparnetly he's gonna chat with them for an hour tomorrow...I really love that man.

So Joanna came out(she exists...kinda) but Greg said she had to leave right away so she just told us that we were such a fantastic audience and she loved performing for us, etc. Ohh, and I think the sound guy happened to be on stage for that moment so he started talking about where the mikes go, basically the same things he talked to BSo and I about when we went downstairs, he was very cool. Then Norbie came out...and eventually it got to be Sara, Sherie, Norbie, John and Greg who were all sitting on the stage. Again, things I tried to follow...seemed to be for aspiring actors...then again I was confused b/c a lot of them seemed surprise to learn about the broadway schedule(8 shows a week, etc.) so...maybe...I dunno.

Okay what they talked about...try to remember everything I can...first everyone said (ooh like zis/like zat just came on my shuffle hehe) one piece of advice they would give to aspiring actors. Greg...wow, I can't remember what he said at all...::slaps her head:: Hopefuly it will come to me later. Norbie essentially said to just follow your heart and always be yourself. Sara said to be grateful for everything you get, that acting is essentially a stepping stone and in most cases before you get a huge lead role, you work up from ensemble, etc. Sherie's answer I really liked, she seems like someone...I dunno who I would agree with on a lot of things...she said just try to remember the most important thing is always the kind of person you are, to always be a good person, etc. and that your wealth, your success, and other **** doesn't matter as much as the person you are, and John advised them to go to college and not necessarily major in theatre, but learn about all sorts of things in college while performing in theatre, and then if you still want to do that, then go on to study theatre.

Let's see, then I just think some questions were asked....I was tempted to ask a question or two, specifically ask Norbie in the words of Greg how he has not "blown his gut" but I figured I shouldn't ask questions as I'm not even in this group. I think two people kinda combined the question of how do they "stay sane" and give their all in performances...Greg said he just tries to remember that every show at least 1400 have paid LOTS of money to see him so he owes it to them to give 100%. Someone else...threw in that when they have an audience like us it makes it so much easier. Ooh and then I think another girl cracked me up, she asked about something similar and at that point, they mentioned Norbie was having vocal troubles, he could barely talk, eventually Sherie talked for him, and he also funnily but probably necessarily kept plopping his head down on a bag and lying down. Poor tired Norbie. So this girl just went "is he gonna be okay?' I dunno, I thought it was funny.

Then...ooh, liked this one. Someone asked in terms of being a triple threat performer if they had one they specificially started out with (dancing, singing, acting) or if they were all learned together, etc. Sara mentioned that she did dance before she did everything else, Sherie said that both she and Norbie(you could tell how close they are and how well they know each other by now) did lots of theatre in college and somewhere along the way they realized they could sing...but John had the best quote of the night. He said "and I still haven't learned to sing or dance." ROTFL!! I laughed much louder than anyone at that comment, haha. Then I think someone just asked John being in theatre and on screen which he prefers and as I know he's said in other interviews he said he loved them all in different ways. Then Greg said we all have to get out b/c they have to close the theatre but he'll be with them for an hour tomorrow. I walked to the stage door, but he missed me and seemed to be in a rush for him, so I just left and sent him a thank you e-mail.

Did I mention I love Greg? I mean, everything I've experienced with him, whatever this one, for him to do it, really benefitted everyone. Obviously those kids who got to be there, the performers for having such an enthusiastic audience and anyone else in the audience who got to participate and I'm sure their experience was enhanced by it. I just...never have even heard of anyone going as above and beyond as he does. It just amazes me.

Okay, couple more posts to make, wanna try to make a main thread about the show and "talkback" tonight. I'll prob be on in the morning before we leave(11:45 for a 4:15 flight??) and then I'll be in Disneyworld till Thurs(woohoo!) So I guess I'll talk to you all in a week.

Ooh and Barb...since I'm gonna miss roving cam...try to save lots of shots for me? It's prob sad that I'll be in Disneyworld and I'm a little sad I'm missing the cam..then again epcot isn't my fav park...oh well, Amanda shutup. Okay goodnight everyone.

Bit of time before I leave...between "Great Big Stuff" and "Chimp In A Suit" when Freddy's trying to convince Lawrence to take him on as a "student", and Lawrence starts considering it...Andre says you can't be serious and then Lawrence says perhaps another sentence but the one I always remember is "he's so deliciously low." and another sentence that goes with that that I can never remember. Higgins says this about Eliza.
