Okay, my mom and I were discussing this - in what context does Muriel say "Merde"? I can remember her saying it, but can't remember why - but I know it's in this scene!
Can anyone help me out?

But there is a DRS in my discman, I listen to it every morning when I go swimming.

Ahhh. On your way TO swimming. Not the physical "headphones on doing laps" thing... good. I was mildly worried about electrocution for a minute there.
That or I wanted to know what company had finally come out with a waterproof CD player.

That's more like water-resistant... It's not waterproof until I can sit at the bottom of the pool with it and listen to "Tiny Bubbles"...
